To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Katie Appl, and I am a senior music education major from Northern

State University. I am currently student teaching in the Sioux Valley’s music program

and working with a variety of students from grades K-12 in band, vocal, and general

music classes. I believe my passion for the students and my work ethic make me an ideal

candidate for a teaching position at your school. Throughout my collegiate career, I have

had valuable field experiences in the Aberdeen and Groton school districts such as co-

teaching a unit for first grade, leading band rehearsals, and teaching band lessons.

Outside of school, I have gained several teaching experiences including teaching private

vocal and instrumental lessons, pre-K music classes, K-5 summer fine arts program,

counseling at music camps, and assisting an elementary program.

As a future music educator, I want my students to discover music and to know

that music is unlimited. I want my students to share their music with people of all

cultures, all ages, and all backgrounds. I want my students to know that with hard work

and dedication they can achieve anything. I believe that education is the most powerful

tool we can give to our students, and I know that your school strives to provide students

with a quality and meaningful education. It is my goal to apply my energy and

enthusiasm for music education in order to make a positive contribution to the students

and faculty in your school district and community. Thank you for your consideration,

and I would welcome an interview and meeting with your school district.

Sincerely,

Katie Appl
