Stopping corruption in Mexico

The objective of this project is to try and stop corruption in mexico. It has become the second
biggest problem in mexico only behind insecurity. Corruption has been able to rule so much of
mexico that one day it will all be ruled by corruption. IT has had a big impact on the people of
mexico. I would like to raise awareness that it becoming a major issue. IF we do not do
something now to stop it , it will be too late later on in the future.
MY ideas on how to stop corruption is to have body cams on police officers. In mexico it is
thought that police officers are the most involved with corruption. Another idea I have is to
improve the wages of police officers. POlice officers are involved because they received low
wages . THe average police officer in Mexico makes $600 dollars a month. If we can solve this
problem it can be the beginning of stopping corruption once in for all.

Corruption in mexico has increased so much in the past few years that they must put a
stop to it in order for it not be to become a bigger problem. Corruption is the second biggest
problem in Mexico only behind insecurity. Rules have been made in order to help reduce and try
to stop corruption but they are not being enforced. If the rules are not being enforced then
people will not take them seriously and continue with their business. It is hard to figure out is
and who is not involved in corruption because everyone is involved somehow. People with
power are involved and should be punished in order to send a message to the country of
Mexico.
One example of what they could do to stop corruption is enforce the new laws they
have made. By the rules being enforced people will know that they are being serious. Since the
rules are not being enforced no one really cares what they say.The new laws state that the
GLAR will punish both individuals and legal entities for any bribery of government officials. Even
though they have these rules they are rarely enforced.The new laws intends to sanction both
public officials and companies/individuals participating in activities that deal with corruption.
In Mexico, corruption has become a big problem that it is the second biggest problem only
behind insecurity in Mexico. If we want to stop corruption we must start from somewhere and
we should start by fixing the law enforcement. The law enforcement needs to be fix because
they are thought to be the most highly involved with corruption. One question people have is
why do they get involved?. First, they might do it just to get more money. In mexico police
officers make around 10,000 pesos when converted to dollars equals $700.00 dollars a month.
The amount of money they make is not enough for them to live a good life. If the police officers
were paid good wages than they would not be so heavily involved with corruption.The police is
looked at as incompetent and unreliable due to infiltration by organized crime groups and the
influence of corrupt politicians(BTI 2014). Even though Mexico has found some police officers
being involved they are not being punished for their action. In the past few years, around 400,00
police officers have taken the anti-corruption exams and those that failed continued and faced
no consequence. (Times live, Nov.2014)
Another possible solution to help stop corruption in Mexico is to stop corruption in
Mexican education. In Mexico, all Mexican citizens are promised a free education. Corruption in
mexican education is that they hire “ghost teachers”. “Ghost teachers” are people who are not
qualified to be teachers but get paid so that they do not have a pay for a real teacher and all
their requirements. The “ghost teacher” is just there to fill as a teacher because when the
 paychecks come the education boards keeps all the money from the person while they get a
little portion of it. An example is the story of Ester Gordillo who was the head of the SEP
teacher's union. She was not elected but chosen by a sitting president of Mexico. She spent
5000 dollars on handbags, personal jet which was too many things for the salary of a teacher.
She was earning around 1000x times more than the average teacher. Some teachers also
blackmail students into buying them goods or else they would feel the class.

In conclusion, corruption has become a major problem in Mexico over the past few
years. The problem has not seemed to calm down but instead to increase. I would like to know
why corruption is involved in almost every action in Mexico.This post is important because we
have to put a stop to corruption now before the problem gets bigger. The problem will get so big
that we will not be able to stop and it will take over Mexico. I want to know why they are not able
to stop corruption and help Mexico improve as a country.
