Best Practice Testing
Hydraulink quality is underpinned by
rigorous testing of our hose assemblies to
both DIN and SAE standards at our own
quality assurance facilities.
Our BIMAL impulse hose testing machines
subject assemblies to 120%-133% of
the maximum hose working pressure
at up to 121°c in accordance with the
SAE J517 standard. The test follows a
prescribed wave form which is monitored
and recorded on an external computer for
future reference. Tests vary from 200,000
cycles to 1,000,000 cycles depending
upon the hose specification. They are run
24 hours a day and can take up to 12 days
of continuous testing.
Our impulse test machines are capable
of examining up two inch (2”) six (6) wire
hose assemblies.
Further testing is carried out using static
pressure tests for leakage and burst
testing parameters for each individual
design. Our custom designed hydrostatic
testing machines check to twice working
pressure (2 x WP) of its matched hose
assemblies e.g. a 6,000psi rated assembly
is tested and certified to 12,000psi prior to
installation. The machines can test hoses,
fittings and pipes up to 35,000psi.
Prior to supply, further evaluation
can be carried out on individual hose
assemblies against the specifications for
a particular application. For example, in
mining applications the MDG 41 guideline
requests testing in accordance with SAE
J517 and SAE J343 specifications.
Static testing and certification of hose
assemblies can also be done to customer
requirements e.g. marine certification to
meet Lloyds requirements.

When combining Hydraulink’s matched
fittings with new generation Gates
hydraulic hoses, the result is unbeatable
quality and reliability.
Gates continually carries out rigorous
tests on its hydraulic hoses including:
• Lot control testing – burst, adhesion
