ELED 488- 520 Camelot Intermediate School In Progress: K-8 Student Brooking, SD In this student teaching Teaching 5th Grade Math experience, I am with Mrs. Becky Palmer in a 5th grade math classroom. I will assist Mrs. Palmer in co-teaching lessons, assessing student learning, prepping lessons, and working with students individually and in small groups. I will also plan and teach one unit of instruction to document teacher effectiveness and student growth. ELED 495- 35 Sioux Valley Elementary Completed Fall 2017: Level III Volga, SD In this practicum, I was placed in Practicum 2nd Grade Mrs. Heylen’s 2nd grade classroom. I provided students with additional math and reading support, helping them to re-learn and master key skills and concepts of number sense and comprehension. I taught one math lesson and two reading lessons. I also designed and facilitated a hands-on science unit about the states of matter and change. The unit included two assessments and three lessons. ELED 459- 8 Sioux Valley Elementary Completed Fall 2017: Literacy Volga, SD In this practicum, I was placed in Assessment 2nd Grade Mrs. Heylen’s 2nd grade and classroom. Using Boushey and Remediation Moser’s Daily 5 reading approach, I completed two running records and three strategy conferences with a student needing additional reading support. ELED 395- 35 Mickelson Middle School Completed Spring 2017: Level II Brookings, SD In this practicum, I was place in Practicum 7th Grade Mrs. Thaler’s 7th grade English/Language Arts classroom. I taught three lessons, including comma usage, noun- verb agreement, and characterization in short stories. I also assisted Mrs. Thaler with helping students one-on-one and in small groups during class work time, answering questions, scaffolding tasks, and correcting work. ELED 450- 8 Mickelson Middle School Completed Spring 2017: K-8 Reading Brookings, SD In this practicum, I was placed in Methods 7th Grade Mrs. Dubbeldee’s 7th grade reading classroom. I taught two reading comprehension lessons, one full group and one small group. I also planned and implemented one lesson during their unit on immigration and current news media. My lesson focused on informational text and news media. ECE 488- 240 Orchard Drive Preschool Completed Fall 2016: Preschool GracePoint Church In this practicum, I worked as a Student Brookings, SD student teacher with Ms. Teaching 3 to 5 year old preschool Stephanie’s three- and four-year- old students and Ms. Chris’ four- and five-year-old students. I assisted classroom teachers with classroom management, implemented weekly thematic lessons, taught students strategies to resolve peer conflicts, and conducted a research project about memory retention of the alphabet through movement. ECE 328- 120 Fishback Center for Early Completed Spring 2016: Guidance with Childhood Education In this practicum, I was placed in Young SDSU Mr. Stulka’s four- and five-year- Children Brookings, SD old morning preschool class. I (Assistant 4 to 5 year old preschool acted as an assistant teacher to the Teacher) classroom student teachers. My main focus was learning and implementing guidance and discipline strategies with pre- school age students. In addition, I planned and implemented one early literacy, one science, and one read aloud activity. I also assisted a student teacher in leading a small group of five preschool students. As a teaching team, the student teacher and I facilitated an inquiry-based unit of the solar system. ECE 371- 18 Bright Horizons Completed Fall 2015: Infant/Toddler Brooking, SD In this practicum, I was placed in Development Toddlers one of Bright Horizon’s toddler and rooms. I assisted classroom Appropriate teachers in daily classroom Practice routines. I engaged with toddler students in play, assisted with feeding, and supervised playground play. EPSY 302- 16 Camelot Intermediate School Completed Fall 2015: Educational Brookings, SD In this practicum, I was placed in Psychology 5th Grade Mr. Bolstad’s 5th grade classroom. I assisted individual students with additional social studies assignments. I also observed and recorded various teaching practices, relating those practices to educational psychology concepts and education/development theorists. ECE 150- 8 St. Thomas More Preschool Completed Spring 2015: Early Brookings, SD In this practicum, I was placed in Experience 4 to 5 year old preschool Ms. Kelly’s morning and afternoon preschool classrooms. I assisted Ms. Kelly with daily classroom routines, such as snack, large group time, free play, and outdoor play. ECE 150- 8 Camelot Intermediate School Completed Fall 2015: Early Brookings, SD In this practicum, I was placed in Experience 5th Grade Ms. Hofer’s 5th grade reading class. I assisted Ms. Hofer with helping students during rough draft writing time and independent reading time. I answered students’ questions, and I provided feedback for writing and reading improvement.
