Name(s) of Academic Staff:
Giuseppina Simone

10. Course Objectives:

 To provide the fundamentals of fluid dynamics from the definition of fluid to the
equations of statics, cinematics and dynamics.
 To apply those concepts to problems of practical interest in the field of mechanics
and aerodynamics.
 To provide the equations and definition of simplified models for the solution of
problems.
11. Course Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, students would be able to:
1. Understand, design and solve fundamental macroscale problems of fluid dynamics
1.1. Hydrostatic
1.2. Dimensionless analysis and numbers
1.3. Mass, Momentum and Energy Balances
2. Scale down to micro-fluid dynamics
12. Course Synopsis:
This course covers the fundamentals of the mechanics of fluids. It tends to provide
the tools for solve practical problems in Engineering. Students will work to
formulate the models necessary to study, analyze, and design fluid systems
through the application of these concepts, and to develop the problem-solving
skills essential to engineering practice of fluid mechanics in practical applications.
