8. VESPERS SERVICE – ST CHARALAMBOS
came from a Virgin’s Womb. Of old
He gave the Law on Mount Sinai, and
now He obeyes what the Law
commanded. His Virgin Mother
brought Him into the Temple and
presented Him to Symeon the Priest,
elderly and Righteous, to whom it
had been revealed that he would see
the Messiah. When he took Him in
his arms, Symeon greatly Rejoiced
and said: “This is God, Co-Eternal
with the Father, and the Redeemer of
our soul!”
A Light to bring Revelation to the
Gentiles, and the Glory of Thy
People Israel.
The Lord Who rides the Chariot of
Cherubim and is praised in song by
the Seraphim, became Incarnate of
Mary the Theotokos without
conjugal union. He is the Giver of
the Law, and fulfilled the Order of
the Law. His Mother carried Him in
Her arms and presented Him to the
Priest, and he, as he held Life, aksed
to be released from life, saying: “O
Master, now let me go, to tell Adam
that I have beheld as an Infant the
Immutable, Pre-Eternal God and
Saviour of the world!”

O Brethren, let us extol that Spiritual
Diamond of unbreakable Endurance
– that most Valorous Athlete,
Charalabos, the Grandest of Martyrs,

against the arrogant opponent, and
having raised a huge Trophy against
