Well how should I start this ? I am 23 years old ! I have lost the person who meant
the world to me ! Here is my story! My name is Carolyn. I am still in love with this guy, his
name was James. The story began when we were in the Secondary school. He was one of
my good friends. Although I had known him since primary six, I did not dare talk to him or
even smile at him. I don't know why? But I knew that there was some kind of chemistry
between us. Nevertheless I was not sure whether it was friendship or love.

My name is carolyn Jenovah and I'm studying in Form 1 at the Convent Secondary School
which is situated in the heart of Muar, a small town in Johore. I am the first child among
my three siblings. My father is an executive manager in a hotel and well my mother is a
staff nurse in a maternity clinic. We are a middle class family in this pensioners' paradise.
Mean while, my guy's name is James Carter and he was seven months senior and studying
at a renowned school in town. He is the an only son for his beloved parents after his elder
brother met with a car accident five years ago. He also comes from a middle class family.
We became closer when we were attending tuition classes when were in primary six. Then I
was scared to talk to boys and felt very shy of them. After we had both finished our primary
six, we did not get to meet each other and I started to miss him a lot.

One night, when I was online with my Facebook friends..........all of sudden a message
appeared in my chat box. The message went “hi..”. It was so amazing as the message was
from James. I too replied...”hi..”. He continued “I miss you a lot”. Indeed, I was shocked
to hear that from him. I asked him “why are saying such things, James?” Then he replied, “I
really miss you, I need you in my life, I know you like me, but time and situation are
barriers that keep us apart”. I really didn't know what to say but I admitted to him that I
missed him too. From that day onwards we started chatting until late night and got to know
each other once again. In fact I nominated him as my best boy frined but not as my special
boy friend, when we entered Secondary School, our rellationship blossomed and I did not
feel solitary anymore. We got to know and to understand each other's needs.

Most of my friends and his friends gossiped a lot about us. They said that we were a pair of
lovers but it was not true. Even though initially we did not have such feelings towards each
other unfortunately the feeling of friendship between us changed into true love. I still
remember the day he proposed to me, the most meaningful day in my life 31 March 2007.
We were deeply in love with each other, Even though we were in love, we never forgot our
responsibiliy as students and we did our best to safeguard the trust that our parents towards
us. We promised to marry after graduation. We wanted a stable life. For a beautiful and a
meaningful life we promised each other we would study hard to make our parents proud.

Four years later both of us finished our Form 5 and passed our exams with flying colours.
With the blessing of God he got the JPA Scholarship to further his studies in pharmacy at
United Kingdom but before he continue his studies abroad he must complete hi A' Level in
Malaysia for nine months. At the same time I got sponsorship from the Ministry of Johore
State Education Department to further my studies as a teacher in primary school as this is
my ambition too.
James Carter was torn between going abroad to further his studies and continuing his
relationship with me. After much persuasion, he agreed to chase his dream of becoming a
pharmacist. Though I was heartbroken, I knew that true love meant sacrifice.

At last, he accepted my words. After two weeks , he had to fly to UK. First, I wanted to go
to the Airport to send him off but I was very sure my tears would flow freely and make him
sad .So I decided not to go to the Airport.

After he arrived in the UK he made a phone call to me that he had arrived safely at UK and
the weather is cold right now. I gave him a piece of advice and make him comfort.
Once in a month he would call me and talk to me. But after six months he stopped
calling me. I tried my best to contact him and sent letters, unfortunately I didn't get any
reply from him for years. At the same time I was doing my teaching course at UTM. Any
how I am still madly in love with him.

Time passes by so fast, it has been four years now since he left for UK. He came back to
Malaysia, after he graduated as a phamarcist. It was really sad because he never informed
me that he was coming back to Malaysia. I never took it so seriously as I thought he will
make it a surprise to me. After two days he came, called me and told me that he wanted to
meet me. I was really delighted hearing his words. From the time he came and saw me I
was so happy that it was the wonderful moment I waited for years.

One bleak evening, James came to see me. He was the same old cheerful boy I had
known years ago. The only difference was the self assured way in which he carried himself.
After exchanging greeting, James told me that he had asked to meet me to tell me about his
oncoming wedding to a white girl. He told me that he had grown to love Amanda, his new
love because she had helped him in his hard times. Moreover, his heart went out to her
because she had been orphaned. Since she was a mere toddler. James' news shattered my
world. The dreams that I built for years went to splinters. Now what is left is only a distant
memory.

There were times when I come across James at odd places such as the supermarket
and he always approached me with eyes that were filled with misery. He even try to woo me
to be his mistress. I was firm in my decision of never breaking another woman's heart. I
made James promise me never to betray the trust that was placed on him by his loved ones.

Ten years slipped by and one day as I was sitting in the staffroom, a little boy who
resembled my old flame came boucing towards me. He had the bluest eyes that I had ever
seen. “ What is your name ?” I asked the inquisitive child. “ Jim Carter” the boy answered
nonchalantly. Immediately, I was transformed to another time and place when two children
had promised to love one another for life. At last I realize that what a small world this is...
