Topic Statement (full sentence): Not every family can provide the proper health care for their sick child and
take care of the other expenses they have. By doing this project I would like to help those families any way
possible.

1. What is your prior knowledge about this topic?
Having a sick child is mentally difficult to handle and with all the bills people have make it harder. There is not
enough places that help with a situation like this. Helping these families in any way you can does mean a lot to
them even if it’s something small.

2. What problem(s) could you attempt to solve/address in connection with this topic?
I could address the fact that there is not enough funding for the children and their families. I could also
attempt to help solve the funding issues.

3. How can you attempt to solve one of these problems at Poly or in the local community (not globally)?
What type of product do you anticipate completing (see ideas for final product).
I can raise money to donate to a charity that helps with child health care such as the Ronald McDonald House
charities.

4. Explain how you might spend a minimum of 10 hours outside of the school day in the community
working toward this solution.
I can volunteer at charities that are for children’s health care, inform people about the situation and why it is
important, and go around asking people if they can donate money.

5. Explain how you might provide evidence of your work throughout the experience.
I would ask a worker if they could sign a form saying I was there helping out, keep a journal about what I did,
take pictures of when I am helping out, and every time I try raising money I can keep a log of how much I raise
that day.

6. Explain any obstacles you might encounter in your attempt to address this problem.
A big obstacle I will encounter while doing this is that not everyone will want to donate money.
