Honourable Deron Bilous
Minister of Economic Development and Trade
Government of Alberta
425 Legislature Building
10800 97 Avenue
Edmonton AB TSK 286
Dear Minister Bilous,
We welcome your public comments made in a Canadian Press story posted on nationaloost.com on,
January 15, 2018 regarding the Agreement on Intemal Trade (AIT) Appeal Panel's upcoming hearing on
the disoute between Artisan Ales Consulting Inc. and the Government of Alberta concerning mark-ups
‘on out-of-province beer that indicate “should the initial ruling stand, then Alberta will have to make
‘changes to [the] beer program.” Thank you for your commitment to honour the upcoming AIT’s Appeal
Pane'’s findings. We are confident that Alberta will return to the spirit of the New West Partnership
‘when it comes to beer and alcohol pricing should the AIT’s original pane’’s decision be upheld.
In good faith, we will suspend the licence plate policy for Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and
Infrastructure project sites, announced on December 6, 2017, immediately.
We agree that our two provinces’ Ministers responsible for Highways/ Transportation and Trade should
meet in short order to begin discussions on harmonizing safety courses and requirements for
contractors, in addition to creating a single window resource for contractors from either province to
contact regarding any issues they may face doing business in their neighbouring province.
Sincerely,
Steven Bonk
‘Minister Responsible for Trade
