GENERAL INFORMATION

1. What is the MET? It is an international exam of


English.

2. What levels is it for? From Basic to Advanced (A2 – C1


based on the Common European
Framework)

3. What is it for? It certifies the candidate’s English


level and it is accepted by most public
and private universities in Peru.

Test Format
• You will take a written test (paper-and-
pencil).
• You will find135 multiple-choice
questions divided in two major sections:
o (1) Listening (45 minutes)
o (2) Reading and Grammar (90 minutes)

Develop task awareness: Knowing what the test format is


can be very helpful (sections, number of items, etc.)

PART 1
Short conversations (approx. 20 items in total)
In this section of
the test, you will

You will hear short conversations between two people. After
each conversation, you will hear a question about it. Choose
the best answer to the question from the choices in your test
booklet.

AUDIO

Woman: I’m looking for the textbook for my


physics course, but you’re all out of the one I
need. Could you order a copy for me?
Man: Sure! That usually takes 5 business
days. Unless I have it sent by express mail,
but that’s going to cost you an extra 10
dollars.
Woman: No problem. Class starts next
week.

Listen and mark your answers on your answer sheet quickly.


You will not have enough time to transfer them later.

You will hear longer conversations between two people. After
each conversation, you will answer some questions about it.
Choose the best answer to the question from the choices in
your test booklet.

Man: Hi! I’m Steve Walters. I called earlier about


seeing the apartment.
Woman: Oh hi, Steve! I’m Nancy. Come on in!
Oh- sorry for the mess. I’m in the middle of
packing everything up, as you can probably tell

You will hear some short talks. After each talk, you will answer some
questions about it. Choose the best answer to the question from the
choices in your test booklet.

how teens use the Internet to find about music.
We interviewed over 18 hundred teens to ask
them about their Internet use, especially how they
use the Internet with regard to music. We spoke

Section 2: Grammar
In this section of the test, you will show your ability to use
English grammar.

MET grammar items focus on a variety of grammatical


features observed in written American English.

Don’t spend too much time on a given item. If you are not sure

Final Recommendations
