The Ramones Effect In the Music Industry And Sub-culture In America

If we want to talk about the history of music in America, we must knows about this legendary
and one of the greatest band in the world, The Ramones. The Ramones were born in the New
York City neighborhood of Forest Hills, Queens in 1970’s and through their three-chord, less-
than-three-minute blasts and their leather jackets. They are the first Punk Rock band in the
world. The original member from The Ramones consist of 4 young rebel boy, Joey as vocalist,
Dee-Dee as bassist, Johny as guitarist, and Tommy as drummer. Actually they not too able to
play music because their motto is 1% skill, 99% passion. That’s why a Punk Rock not only being
one of music genre, but more than that, Punk Rock become a sub-culture.

The Ramones’s Punk Rock rapidly affect the youngster in America, moreover in the world.
Slogan that used by a punk rocker till now is “D.I.Y.” or Do It Yourself. Its mean that they can do
anything what they want and no matter with what the people said to them. That’s slogan very
affected the young people at that time to be an independent people and most of punk rocker
make an anarchy becomes a way of life. Not only in America but in around the world. We can
see in punk rock band in the U.K., Sex Pistols band with their song title “Anarchy in the U.K.”
they said “I wanna be an Anarchy”.

When the Rock and Roll music begins considered monoton, like Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple
era, The Ramones’s Punk Rock became a role model for the young generation who want to
rebel against the establishment. So that, most of parents at that time do not like about this
genre include The Ramones because their life style are very unique. The Ramones music was
combined beetwen art idealism and reality of life and sometimes provoking the audience. This
makes The Ramones becames into something new and fresh in the music and art in America
even in arround the world

In 6 August 1996, The Ramones makes a decision to played their final show at the palace of
Hollywood. In their last show they show featured several guests including the members of
Motorhead, Pearl Jam, Rancid, and many great band who influenced by The Ramones. On 18
March 2002 The Ramones officially accepted the “Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame” in New York City
and opened by Green Day who play The Ramones song as a tribute.
Early 2000’s became the sad decade for the punkers in the world. Joey, who had been
diagnosed with lymphoma in 1995, died of the illness on April 15, 2001, in New York. Johnny,
who had been privately suffering from prostate cancer, died on September 15, 2004 in Los
Angeles. Dee Dee Ramone was found dead on the evening of June 5, 2002, by his wife Barbara
at his apartment in Hollywood because of because of heroine overdose. Tommy Ramone died
at his home in Ridgewood, Queens, New York on July 11, 2014 because of cancer

For the Punkers and The Ramones follower, The Ramones is not just a Punk Rock genre creator,
but also they create an identity, lifestyle, even lifestyle and even principles. The Ramones effect
not only founded in America, but in arround the world even in our country Indonesia. Negative
stigma of Punkers are often founded in America even our country. But the American goes by
knows and recognize the punker not only by the cover but also knows the punker more.
Ramones inspired the young generation to be our self and do what we want,no matter what
the people said. Now was proven that The Ramones’s Punks Rock to be the one of greatest
music genre and sub-culture in the world
