DESIGN, FABRICATION, SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF FRP-

PPHGL TANK AS PER GIVEN DRAWING AND SPECIFICATION


I. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:-
1. Rectangular PPHGL & FRP acid rinsing tank shall be designed & fabricated as per drawing
no: C 90 ARFT M 048 P17.
2. Tank shall be designed as per BS 4994:1987 & fabricated by hand lay up process.
3. The design pressure & temperature for the tank shall be atmospheric & 100oC respectively.
4. Material of the construction shall be PPHGL & FRP. Minimum ISMB-150 shall be used for
structural supports.
5. Thickness of 2mm (min.) PPHGL & 16 mm (min.) FRP shall be used for fabrication of the
tank.
6. Four nos. of lifting hooks shall be welded to the tank at distance of 11/2 metres from centre of
tank on both sides.
7. PP ball valve shall be provided in drainage line of tank as indicated in the drawing.
8. All flanges in the tank shall be as per ASME B16.5.
9. Each flange shall be provided with blind flange & PTFE gasket (min. 3mm thick) for dummy
purpose.
10. The tank shall be free from defects such as foreign inclusion, dry spots, air bubbles, pin holes
& de-laminations. The inner surface of the tank shall be smooth, free of cracks & crazing and
shall contain no more than 2 pits per square feet area. Acceptable pits shall be less than 1/8th
in diameter (3.2mm) & less than 1/32th (0.8mm) depth. Pits of larger dimension are not
acceptable.
11. Acid resistant level gauge shall be provided for monitoring acid level in the tank (suitable to
mixture of HF & HNO3 solution).
II. NOTE TO THE MANUFACTURER:-
1. The successful bidder shall submit a detailed quality assurance plan (QAP) indicating quality
checks applicable at various stages of fabrication starting from raw material to final testing
with necessary drawings & documentation for obtaining approval from NFC, before taking
up the fabrication.
2. All the dimensions of the tanks are indicative. However, the supplier shall submit the design
& provide the actual maintaining at least minimum specified.
3. All the brought out items like valves etc. shall be of the make mentioned in the tender & the
manufacturer shall provide all the details of make, model in offer itself.
4. The vendor shall provide the following documents along with their offers:-
 major bill of materials and
 data sheets of items like PP valves etc.
III. QUALIFYING CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE TENDER:-
1. The firm shall provide evidence of similar jobs involving PPHGL + FRP during last three
years.
2. Offers being submitted by vendors shall be complete in all respects matching the
specification. Any deviation w.r.t specification shall be brought out separately. Incomplete
offer is liable not to be considered for further evaluation.
IV. ON-SITE INSPECTIONS:-
Stage wise on-site inspections shall be carried out at any point of time by NFC representative
at manufacture's premises.
V. INSPECTION & TESTING:-
The manufacturer shall give at least 15 working days advance notice of the proposed date for
witnessing any following mentioned tests. All required tests including the following shall be
carried out.
1. Material test certificate for raw materials & consumables from NABL accredited lab /or
Govt. approved agency.
2. Spark test at 20 KV before FRP lining.
VI. PRE-DESPITCH INSPECTION:-
Pre-despatch inspection of the equipment shall be carried out at firm’s premises for visual,
dimensional & leak test by representative from NFC to the satisfaction of the latter.
Acceptance criteria:-
1. Dimension of the tanks as specified in drawing shall be considered as minimum.
2. Pits/inch as specified including depth of pits etc.
3. Resistance to temperature at 100oC.
4. Flanges as per ASME standards specified.
5. Full specified capacity water hold test for two days shall be demonstrated at their work so as
to identify leaks, if any. After any repairs for leaks, same test shall be repeated.
VII. PACKING AND TRANSPORTATION:-
The manufacturer shall be responsible for packing, transportation & safe unloading of tanks /
items at NFC.
VIII. INSTALLATION:-
1. Installation of tanks shall be carried out in Pickling Section, SSTP, NFC by the manufacturer
by removing existing tank.
2. All the tools and tackles etc required for installation shall be arranged by the manufacturer.
IX. PERFORMANCE TRIAL AT NFC:-
Full specified capacity water hold test for two days shall be demonstrated so as to identify
leaks if any. After any repairs for leaks, same test shall be repeated.
X. WARRANTY:-
The manufacturer shall provide 1 year onsite warranty from the date of commissioning or
11/2 years from the date of supply, whichever is earlier.
XI. DOCUMENTAION:-
The manufacturer shall submit two hardcopies & a soft copy of the following documents:-
1. as built drawing of tank and
2. manuals & drawings of all brought out items.
