Extract Publications with a Macro Program 

 
SUPERFAST EXTRACTION OF PUBLICATIONS! 
 
The new tutorial below explains how you can extract numerous amounts of text documents from the Wt Library (WtLib) 
with very little manual work. For example you can extract all the books in approx. half an hour. It is ideal for complete 
‘foreign language’ extractions.  
 
This is possible with the use of automation (running ‘macro’). You are going to show the computer once what should be 
done; the computer records it and can repeat it as many times as you tell it to.  
 
Method has been tested on Wt Library 2007. 
 
You need two free Windows programs installed on your computer to do this: 
 
 
1. Do It Again ‐ task automation software:

2. NoteTab Light ‐ Notepad:

(We've tried a lot of word processors and notepads with less good result.  So this notepad is the best choice) 
 
 
LETS BEGIN!!!!!! 
 
1. On your computer, open the Watchtower Library (WTLib), and position it on the left half of your screen. 
2. Open NoteTab Light, and position it on the right half of the screen (the first time you run NoteTab Light you 
might have to close some readme files and tutorials that show up right after installation). 

 
 
3. In Wtlib, Double click on Books 
4. Double click on the first book (in the English Wtlib the first book is, "All Scripture") 
‐ DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK ON ANY BOOK SECTION/CHAPTER. 
5. Open ‘Do It Again’, and position it low in the middle. 

 
 
6. Click “Create a New Task” ‐ This will begin recording EVERYTHING YOU DO, DO NOT FEEL RUSHED, TAKE YOUR 
TIME, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MODIFY THE MACRO LATER SO THAT IT DOESN'T TAKE AS LONG AS YOU TAKE TO 
RECORD. 

 
 
7. Move the Mouse pointer just below the title bar of the WTLib, somewhere to the right of “Help” and click once. 
‐ Click where the BLUE Dot is in the illustration below: 

 
 
8. Press Keyboard keys [Alt] and [ + ] to jump to the first Book Section/Chapter.  
‐ Alternatively you can use keys [Alt]and[=], depending on your keyboard layout, some keyboards have a key 
with both [+/=], so please avoid using Shift key for = or +. 
9. Press Keyboard keys [Ctrl]and[a] to Highlight all of the current Book Section/Chapter. 
10. Press keyboard keys [Ctrl]and[Shift]and[c] to copy all the content. 
11. Move the Mouse pointer just below the title bar of the NoteTab Light, somewhere to the right of “Help” and 
click once. 
‐ Click where the BLUE Dot is in the illustration below: 

 
 
12. Press keyboard keys [Ctrl]and[v] to paste all the content copied into NoteTab Light. 
13. Push Scroll Lock‐key to stop the recording. (on some laptops you need to press the function key “fn” to get to 
the scroll Lock‐key, so study your keyboard’s method for pressing the Scroll Lock‐key) 
14. Save the recorded macro. “Extract_Publications” is a good choice of name. 

 
 
15. In Do It Again ‘Options’, Make sure “Normalize all pauses” is selected and choose ‘Pause Time Length’, 0.25 
seconds. 
‐ Try to set longer pauses if your computer is giving you problems at a 0.25 speed. 

 
 
16. In Do It Again, go to Options > Repeat Task Settings for Extract_Publications.  
Here you can set any number up to 99999 repetitions. For books 2500 repetitions would normally be sufficient. 
(You can stop the macro at any time by pressing ScrollLock key.) 
   
 
17. Close the Wtlib. 
18. Close NoteTab Light without saving changes. 
19. Repeat steps 1‐4 to bring WtLib and NoteTab Light up again. 
20. Double click Extract_Publications in Do It Again, to run the macro. 

 
 
21. Sit back and enjoy the show. ‐ DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING until the macro is finished!!  You can stop the macro by 
pressing the ScrollLock key at any time, i.e. when all the books are extracted. 
22. Save the text file with a convenient name, i.e. BooksAllExtracted.txt. 
‐ Edit the ending of the file to be at the end of the last book. 
 
That’s all! The file is now ready for further preparation.
