SPECIFIC COMPETENCES
-to introduce vocabulary related to household items through games.
-to use the English language to communicate orally

AIMS
By the end of the lesson the S will be able to:
-use the vocabulary related to the household items in different contexts (Camera, washing
machine, vacuum cleaner, freezer, video, mobile phone…etc)
-describe household items according to shape, size and color
-construct sentences of their own;
TEACHING TECHNIQUES
- dialogue, explanation, conversation
SKILLS: SPEAKING, reading, writing
INTERACTION: T – S; S-T; S – S, whole-class, pair work, group work
MATERIALS: Flashcards, worksheets, power point presentation
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:
The students may not read very well in English, they still have problems with the pronunciation
and they might not fully understand the requested tasks stated by the teacher due to their little
knowledge of the English language
.
Warm Up
Aim:
-to create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere
Procedure: -T greets the Ss and ask about their mood. T checks homework.
Timing:5 min

Activity 1: Lead-in
Aim:
-to activate students’ interest on the lesson;
-to develop speaking skills
Procedure: Teacher presents some flashcards with vocabulary related to household items.
Teacher asks students to identify as many objects on the flashcards as they can. After this
activity, teacher will show a power point presentation with all the objects previously presented.
Teacher also introduces what these objects are used for. The objectives of the lesson will be
presented at the beginning of the lesson. Students identify as many flashcards related to the
household items as possible.
Timing: 10 min.
Interaction: whole-class

Activity 2: Presentation & Practice


Aim: -describe household items according to shape, size and color
Procedure: Teacher introduces the shapes, sizes each object has (square, round, rectangular,
large or small). Teacher also introduces the questions students have to use in dialogues:
What shape is it? It is …. Round, square…. Students have the task to construct a dialogue using
the model given by the teacher.

Timing:10 min
Interaction: T-S, S-T

Activity 3: Practice
Aim: -describe household items according to shape, size and color
Procedure: Teacher prepares the flashcards related to the household items and asks some
students to mime what each flashcard represents. Students are required to ask and answer using
the model:
Where do you find it?
I find it in the ………
Students will mime what they want from the items taught. They have to ask their colleagues
some structures proposed by the teacher
Timing:10 min
Interaction: T-S, S-T, individual work

Activity 4: Practice
Aim: construct sentences of their own;
Procedure: Teacher prepares worksheets containing some texts with vocabulary related to
household items. Each pair has a small text to transcribe. But that small text is stuck on the wall.
One of the students from the pair has the role of the secretary (writing), the other student has to
run and bring the information to the secretary. Students will work in pairs as the teacher asks.
Timing: 10 min
Interaction: T-S, S-T, pair work

Activity 5: Evaluation
Aim: - to grade S
Procedure: Teacher evaluates the activity. Teacher evaluates to what extent what was proposed
at the beginning of the lesson was attained. Teacher invites a student to evaluate the objectives of
the lesson proposed at the beginning.

Students will participate in the evaluation of the activity.


Timing: 3 min
Interaction: T-S, S-T

Homework assignment: 2 min Teacher asks students to construct a short paragraph, using the
words taught. Students are asked to choose a word and then describe it( size, shape…)
