Factory Lighting
1. WATER TREATMENT
Personnel: Mr Thomas
Four pumps draw water from underground water to the raw water overhead storage
tanks. The four water pumps capacity are: 7.5KW, 5.5KW, 5.5KW and 3.5KW.
From the raw water tank a pump is used to draw water to the water treatment
underground reservoir where it is gradually doused with chlorine from a dousing tank.
It is then passed to the sand filter tank to filter sand-sized particles then next to the
carbon filter tank where it undergoes finer filtration before going to the micron filter
and finally to the ultra violet chamber.
During generation of treated water, intermittent maintenance is carried out called
BACKWASHING.
Backwashing is done when sufficient amount of treated water has been generated and
the rate of water consumption is low. Processes involved in backwashing are as
follows:
a. Cycle 1: Back wash 25mins
b. Cycle 2: Brine & low rinse 15mins
c. Cycle 3: Rapid rinse 10mins
d. Cycle 4: Brine tank fill 15mins
Total time of 1hour 5mins
During the Cycle 2, brine (water and Industrial salt solution) is introduced into the
sand filter tank and rinse off.

treatment.

3. GENERATOR SERVICING
Power generation is currently alternated between 2 sets of 620KVA 2800 Series Perkins Mikano
Generators and Utility Supply (PHCN). Either of the generating set is run at a time for production in the
factory while the second one is run for general utilities. A 60KVA Mikano Generator is also available as
backup.
