Scenario
This assignment is designed to develop learners’ ability to underpin knowledge and understanding
of a range of techniques to produce a photographic image of the ‘recreation of a genre movie still’
using lens media and digital editing skill.
Research the work of Film/TV/Animation or Fine Art producers/directors from a wide range of
genres in order to understand the visual signs and messages they use to convey period, mood,
atmosphere, style.
You are being asked to research and present examples of producers/directors/artists work from a
wide range of styles that inspires you and provide copies of their work in your research portfolio,
make sure to include reference for source material and create a digital portfolio of examples for
your presentation.
You are being asked to select six Film/TV/Animation stills or Fine Art works from a good range of
genres that you find interesting. Consider possible solution as to how you may be able to recreate
these images using lens media, props, make up, locations and digital imaging editing techniques.
Explore developing ideas using found images, drawings, sketches, camera, montage, collage,
digital imaging editing techniques at this stage.
You are being asked to use lens media skills, composition skills and digital imaging editing skills
and provide a written account of the lens based skills needed to complete the assignment and plus
any new digital image editing techniques or skills you gained during the project.
You are being asked to present a portfolio of your research about Film/TV/Animation or Fine Art
productions, plus written evidence that covers the learning outcomes set for this project. Include
all your research and brainstorming notes.
Learners should explore the creative potential of lens-based recording as a viable and effective
method of building a visual library and of creating starting points for work, as well as being an end
in itself.
