Background: Hearing loss due to hemodialysis (HD) in adult patients with chronic kidney disease
(CKD) has been
known, but in the case of children in Kariadi Hospital Semarang still unknown.
Objective: To know the incidence of hearing loss in some cases of children with CK performed HD.
Case: Reported 7 cases of children with CKD, age between 8 - 17 years old, 2 cases of girls and 5
of boys. 2 cases with normal BP and 4 cases of stage 2 hypertension . Diagnosis of all cases are
stage 5 CKD, LFG less than 15 ml/min/1.73 m2 and electrolyte levels of sodium, potassium, chloride
and calcium in normal range. Audiometric
results obtained 2 normal cases of right and le가 ear, 4 cases of mild to severe SNHL and 1 case
with severe MHL.There are no symptops of hearing loss before HD is done. It can not be
ascertained whether SNHL as a result of HD. Conclusion: Sensorineural hearing loss occurs in the
majority of children with CKD who performed HD. Need audiometry examination before the HD
