1. Review

Okay class, before we start our new lesson.

Let us have first a recall about our topic/lesson.

Can you give me some terms that we’re tackled

about our last lesson? Ma’am! (raising his/her hand).

Yes, (student name)? Triangle, Ma’am!

Good, another. Polygon, Ma’am.

Okay, another one. Sides, Ma’am.

Good, another. Angle, Ma’am!

Very good, okay now give the meaning of those

terms that you have given. Triangle, a three sided polygon. Ma’am.

Nice answer, how about the word polygon? Polygon, a closed figure formed by three or more
line segments that do not cross over each other.
Ma’am.

Splendid! How about the sides? Sides, a line segment that is part of a polygon; the
segment joining two adjacent vertices in a figure.
Ma’am!

Very well explained, okay the last one, the angle. Angle, two line segments that meet at a point; a
figure formed by two line segments or rays that
extend from a given endpoint, also the measure of
the rotation of a ray about its endpoint from an
initial position to a final position. Ma’am!

Very good!

Very good class, it seems that you clearly

understand our last lesson about the triangle,
polygon, angle and sides.

2. Motivation
Okay students, before we start another
lesson, I have a game for you. Our game is
entitled “Find another me”. In this game, the
class will be divide into two groups. Every
member of the group must have their group
representative. Every group will be given two
envelops. Inside those envelops are the pictures
of a circle with different triangles inside. So
class this is the circle with different triangles,
Every group member must help their team
representative to find the different triangles inside
the circle. Every group will be given 10 minutes
to find the different triangles inside the circle.

The group that had found more triangles than the

other group, will be given a reward or prize.

And after the time limit, it is now the time to

show the different triangles that you’ve found.
Every group representative will show there
answer in front of the class.

Are you ready students?

Yes ma’am! We’re ready!

So let’s start! (The teacher will group the class

into two)
(The teacher will distribute the paper to the two
groups).
Okay class, you may now start.
(The students will work on their activity.)

3. Lesson Proper
Okay class, based on our activity, what do you
think is our new lesson for today?
Different kinds of triangles Ma’am.

Very good! So anyone could please read our

objectives for today?
Objectives:
1. Recognize the two kinds of triangle;
2. Classify triangles according to its sides
and angles; and
3. Create triangles according to its sides and
angles.
Thank you! For you to clearly understand our
lesson, I have here the definition of two kinds of
triangles, but before that I will introduce to you
the two kinds of triangles, the triangles according
to its sides and the triangles according to its
angles. And under these two kinds of triangles are
the different triangles.
So first we have the Triangles according to its
sides. Please read. Equilateral Triangle, Isosceles Triangle and
Scalene Triangle. Ma’am.

Thank you, now we have three triangles

according to its sides and angles. I have here the
definition of these three triangles.

Please read the definition of equilateral triangle. Equilateral Triangle, a triangle whose sides are
all the same length; a triangle that has three equal
sides.

Thank you. Next is Isosceles Triangle, please

read. Isosceles triangle, a triangle with two equal sides;
a triangle in which two sides have the same
length and consequently two angles are equal.
This definition includes an equilateral triangle as
a special case.

Thank you. Okay the last triangle according to its

sides is Scalene triangle. Could you please read? Scalene Triangle, a triangle with three unequal
sides.

Thank you students, so class do you understand

the definition of three triangles according to its
sides? Yes, Ma’am!

Please observe again the definition, because I

have here some sticks with different sizes, I want
you to show the different triangles according to
its angles by their definition. (The students will observe again the definition of
the three triangles.)

So anyone can show the figure of the Equilateral

Triangle?

Equilateral Triangle
Very good! How about Isosceles Triangle?

Isosceles Triangle

Very good! Okay the last triangle according to its

sides, the Scalene Triangle. Anyone?

Scalene Triangle

Very good class! It seems that you clearly

understand the first kind of triangle, the triangle
according to its sides. So the last kind is the
Triangle according to its angles.

The Triangles according to its angles are the

Acute Triangle, Right Triangle and Obtuse
Triangle. I have here the definition of these three
triangles. So let us start with the Acute Triangle.
Please read. Acute Triangle, a triangle each of whose angles
measures less than 90 degrees.

Thank you, another is the Right Triangle, who

can read? Right Triangle, a triangle that contains a right
triangle; a triangle containing an angle of 90
degrees.

Thank you, okay the last triangle. The Obtuse

Triangle, please read. Obtuse Triangle, a triangle with an obtuse angle,
a triangle that has one angle that is greater than
90 degrees.

Thank you! You now have the definition of

different triangles according to its angles.
So again, observe again the definition of these
triangles according to its angles. I know class that
you have already a knowledge about different
measures of angles, and you already know how to
measure triangles.

So I need three volunteers here in front. (The three volunteers come in front.)
These three volunteers must show the measure of
acute, right and obtuse angles using their hands.
Are you ready? Yes, Ma’am!

So first angle is acute. (The student will show the acute angle.)

This is an acute class? Yes, Ma’am!

Very good! The next one is right angle. Please

show it. (The student will show the right angle.)

Is he correct? Yes, Ma’am!

Splendid! How about the last angle, the obtuse

angle, could you please show it? (The student will show the obtuse angle.)

Alright! Very good students. Thank you, you may

now go back to your proper sits.

Do you now clearly understand the three triangles

according to its angles? Yes, Ma’am!

Do you have any question class? None, Ma’am.

Okay, class it seems that you already understand

the triangles according to its angle and also the
triangles according to its sides.

4. Application
Okay class, I have an activity for you, the class
will be divided into four groups. Every group will
be given 10 minutes to do the activity. Every
group must have their representative to explain
their work. So class, I have here four envelops,
inside these envelops are the activity you must
do, there are instructions inside. Is it clear class? Yes, Ma’am!

Do you have any question regarding on the

direction? None, Ma’am.

So let’s start.
(The teacher will give the rubrics and the
envelops to the four groups.)
So time start now! (The four groups will work on their activity.)

Time is up! May I have your group representative

with your works to show and explain your work. (Group 1, 2, 3 and 4 will discuss their works.)

You all did a great job! It seems that you can

easily create, recognize and classify the different
classifications of triangles according to their sides
and angles.
IV. GENERALIZATION
What are the kinds of triangles according
to their angles? The kinds of triangles according to their angles
are acute, obtuse, and right triangles.
The types of triangles according to their angles
are acute, obtuse, and right triangles. Ma’am.

How about the triangles according to their

sides? The types of triangles according to their sides are
equilateral, Isosceles, and scalene triangles.
Ma’am.

IV. EVALUATION
1. Give the name of the triangles according to its sides and angles.
2. Create triangles on the geodot paper and label what type it is according to their
angles.
3. Draw or create triangles with the given side length measurements and label it
according to their sides.
a. 3cm, 5cm, 5cm
b. 6cm, 3cm, 4cm
c. 4cm, 4cm, 4cm
