The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) is the principal international trade association for
the shipping industry, concerned with legal, technical and operational issues.
The International Shipping Federation (ISF) is the international employers’ organisation for the
industry, concerned with labour affairs, manpower and training.
Together, their membership comprises national shipowners’ associations in over 40 countries.
International Chamber In addition to representing the interests of ship operators at bodies such as the International
of Shipping (ICS) Maritime Organization and the International Labour Organization, the production and revision

shipping industry.
These activities are co-ordinated under the banner of Marisec Publications.
Many of the following industry guides are an essential complement to government regulations,
and are required reading by companies and seafarers involved in maritime operations.
