Name: Manisha Singh

Grade: 2 Subjects(s): Mathematics Lesson Title: Place Value Bingo (L6)

Date: Allotted Time: 30 Mins

Rationale:
Students have been practicing the place value concepts and recognize that 2-digit number are made up of tens and
ones. In this lesson, students will demonstrate their understanding by participating in a place value bingo game.
This lesson draws on the big idea that “Development of computational fluency in addition and subtraction with
numbers to 100 requires an understanding of place value”.

Learning Standard(s): What curricular competences and content does this lesson develop?
Curricular Competencies:

 develop, demonstrate, and apply mathematical understanding through play, inquiry, and problem solving.
Content:

 understanding of 10s and 1s

 understanding the relationship between digit places and their value, to 99 (e.g., the digit 4 in 49 has the
value of 40)
 decompose two-digit numbers into 10s and 1s
Assessment (Teacher observation and anecdotal notes)

 Decompose and expand 2-digit
numerals as 10’s and 1’s (e.g.,
65 as 60 + 5, 6 tens and 5 ones).
 Apply and demonstrate their
understanding by participating
in a ‘Place Value’ card game
Prerequisite Concepts and Skill :( for student success)
Ability to view, listen and respond visually and physically, and social interaction skills.
Understanding of place value concept.

desired goal of either a line/row/blackout
will shout ”Bingo!”.
 Hand out one card to each student, the

 Reinforce the concept by singing the place

Differentiated Instruction (DI): (accommodations)

 This game may be played in partners as well and by seat students strategically (extending with students
who may need support), it benefits both the learners.

Reflections: What went well? What revisions can be made to the lesson plan? Anything else that can be
