Centre of the forest, birds chirping.

RAMU, a Malaya-Indian teenage boy cycling through the

bushes fastly.

LINDA (VOICEOVER)
Ini Linda dari London, England. Apa khabar disana?
Linda berharap Ramu sihat.
Sudah dua tahun sejak Linda tinggalkan Tanah Melayu.
Walaubagaimanapun, Linda tidak menyesal tinggalkan Tanah
Melayu.
Makanan secukupnya, tempat tinggal yang lebih baik.
Sekolah yang besar.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. RIVER BANK-DAY
Ramu walks by the river bank and sits on the land. He
opens up the letter that he received from Linda.
LINDA (VOICEOVER)
Orangnya pun sangat baik. Tolong tinggalkan Tanah Melayu.
Linda sangat rindukan kawan baik Linda. Tanah Melayu tidak
akan tolong Ramu sama-sekali. Saya sudah berbincang dengan
ayah Linda. Tinggalkan sahajalah segala-galanya.

DISSOLVE TO:
EXT.RIVER-DAY
Ramu and his friends are swimming in the river. They are
enjoying their time.
VOICEOVER
You are the future my dear. Malaysian dream is upon.
Today, you are a fortunate kid. Enjoying your studying,
modern technology, comfort living, food and most
importantly peace.
None of it is guaranteed for the next generation. And you
my love, if you fail to make the greatest decision of your
life. Your kids going to question you. I will never let
that happen to you or your dad.

DISSOLVE TO:
(CONT’D)
EXT.ROAD-BY THE ROAD SIDE-DAY
A kid is suffering from a leg injury along the road. Ramu
accelerates his bicycle towards the kid. Helps the kid,
carries the kid and drops the kid to his home.
VOICEOVER
Everyone needs to make decision including myself. And that
is how he started his story. This is the story of Ramu, my
grandad.
Well, he used to say that kindness is the language which
the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT.ESTATE-DAY
Ramu sends this kid to his home. That kid appreciates his
kindness and gives a drawing to Ramu. Ramu looks at the
drawing while smiles proudly.
VOICEOVER
That day he made a choice. He always wanted to achieve
something in his life. But only as a Malaysian. London
might have provided him more than what he wished for. But
not for his family, friends or even the future generation.
DISSLOVE TO:
INT.SHOP-CASH COUNTER-NIGHT
Ramu wants buy some candies from the shop. He don’t have
much money to buy sufficient amount of candies. A Indian
guy who happens to buy things from the shop helped Ramu by
providing him with some coins to buy those candies.
VOICEOVER
He believed that the ultimate test for a man’s conscience
is the willingness to sacrifice something today for the
future generation. Whose words of thanks will be not
heard.
DISSLOVE TO:
A small graphics segment of the letter, Ramu writes back
to Linda.

LETTER SEGMENT
Tidak apa ku ditemani nyamuk,
Tidak apa ku tidur dalam sejuk,
Tidak apa kalau ku tak cukup makan,
Tidak apa ku baring beralaskan hempas kelapa,
Kerana ku tahu ku mampu harungi semua ini,
Demi negaraku yang tercinta,
Demi rakan-rakanku pelbagai bangsa,
Demi keunggulan ibu pertiwiku.
