The Importance of Going to College

Education is what remains after you have forgotten what you have learned in school. This

phrase could mean that you probably could not had paid attention while you were in college or

maybe you do, but there is always something that remains in our minds after we left our

classrooms, it could be maybe the experience of had receive some type of instructions and carry

them out or sharing daily experiences with peers, and inevitably these things are impossible to

forget them. So it´s very important learning and go to college in order to build up our own

essentials about being connected through learning and education.

First of all, it´s important to think about learning and education like a tool to interact with

others and to empower us. More you increased your knowledge more is your potential to

perform a task and interact with others. No matter what you think you want to work at, you

finally will notice it´s necessary getting some previous knowledge to perform it well, for

instance, as a waiter you will learn team work because you interact with different persons such as

a chef, a cashier and customers, but this simple interaction will be a skill when you become a

head waiter and this could give a sense of empathy; Thus, go to college will give us mayor skills

while we are interacting each other education give us others skills for more complex tasks

because “there are some trades where a college-level education is necessary” (Indiviglio) So

having in account these things we can say that “the primary purpose of a university isn’t to

prepare students for a career. It’s to prepare them for life” (Yen). Education probably has not

disadvantages unless is being misused.

Furthermore, education has the power to train us to face the real world. Each one of us has

a dream, or at least an impulse to live. So it´s very important to get right information wich lead us

to the path we are seeking for to face the world we want to, because not all available information

it´s useful to route us correctly, this is so that “today, it’s absurd to say you need to know this

information and without this information, you’re not an informed person,” (Lapowsky) the really

important thing is “how you analyze and interpret everything you learn”( Lapowsky). In order to

use it for achieve your goal. Face the world is not an easy task but is not so complicated when

you prepare for it.

Third consideration is that education give us a more wide sight about where we are.

Nobody was born with previous knowledge. So learning is a gradual and continuous process

wich “[must be] intended to be a bridge from college to the real world” (Lapowsky) we are in.

While we are in high school we do not know what we are going to work at, thus education has

the purpose to broaden our world´s sight and where we are. Education help to broaden our

proficiency. Lapowsky says education must give intellectual tools to succeed at “jobs that do not

even exist yet” (Lapowsky). So education is like to open our minds to things we even would not

suspect to learn. In this way, having a broaden sight, we could appreciate more accurately where

we are.

Finally, go to college and continuous learning is the best invest you could make for your

future. Go to college is not a privilege for everybody, seize it. Even thought go to college is

gratuitous in some countries and you only have to have will and eager to learn and get ahead, is

also true that go to college is a privilege in some countries like United States of America however

it is a worthwhile investment because it will led you to improve academically thus “if you're

someone who can get into college, going is practically a no-brainer” (Indiviglio). Not being

prepared never won´t be a good decision. Even though education could be really expensive “the

only thing more expensive than getting a college education is not getting one” (Yen). Not

studying, almost always brings remorse. Yen says that high-school graduates were more likely to

live in poverty and be dissatisfied with their jobs, if not unemployed, this reality is the same all

over the world so not going to college not only affect your laboral life if not all your other life´s

areas, hence, invest in college is not just for working later, it´s necessary in other life ‘areas in

order to build up our own essentials about being connected each other through learning and

education. Not investing in college could seems good if you are preparing for other things in life,

otherwise it always will be a good decision.

To sum up, going to college and continuously learning is a good way to empower us and

feel us more capables of facing the world, moreover going to college is going to give us a broader

sight about where we are. So seize it and invest in your future, go to college.
