Noun Phrase merupakan salah satu pengisi pada fungsi subyek dan obyek. Dilihat dari

Noun phrases dan idiomatic noun phrases.
Dalam kaitannya dengan penerjemahan determiner dalam noun phrases, penerjemahan
dengan model word-for-word dapat dilakukan. Ada dua pola penerjemahan frase kelompok ini
dari bahasa Inggris ke Indonesia. Pola pertama dapat dilihat pada contoh All troubles.
Penerjemahannya akan melewati dua langkah. Langkah pertama, semua kata diterjemahkan.
Kemudian, hasil terjemahnya disusun menjadi arti yang dapat dipahami.
All troubles (Determiner + Noun) = seluruh/semua masalah/kelasalahan. Dalam kasus i
masalah/kelasalahan. Dalam kasus ini, setelah semua kata diterjemahkan, urutan kata, urutan
kata tersebut masih sama dalam gramatika bahasa Inggris dan bahasa Indonesia, yakni
Determiner + Noun (Determinator + Kata Benda).
Pola kedua dapat dilihat pada contoh These cars. Langkah pertama sama dengan contoh
diatas, yakni menerjemahkan tiap kata. Kemudian hasil terjemahan tersebut disusun sehingga
menciptakan makna yang logis. These=ini (Determiner) cars=mobil-mobil (Noun)
These cars (Determiner + Noun) = Mobil-mobil ini (Kata benda + Determinator
Dari terjemahan tersebut, terpilih bahwa urutan kata dalam bahasa Inggris berkebalikan
dengan bahasa Indonesia.
Kelompok Noun Phrase kedua adalah kelompok idiomatic noun phrases. Frase
kelompok tidak dapat diterjemahkan kata per kata , tetapi harus diterjemahkan berdasar arti
kamus, yakni arti yang diberikan oleh kamus idiom, atau konteks kalimat. Contoh: jumble sale
