You Are Loved!

Today, there are 349 gorgeous Feasts around the world.

Some are big, most are small.

I love small Feasts. Because small is where you experience—not just


hear—the core message of the Feast: You are loved. It’s in intimate circles
of friends where you experience God’s Love in a palpable way. It’s where
you can express your care for others, thereby becoming a more faithful
follower of Jesus.

But we need both big and small Feasts. If the small Feasts are the
small restaurants on the streets, the big Feasts are the commissaries in
strategic locations whose main goal is to raise up leaders and volunteers for
those small Feasts.

As we start 2018, we want to again announce to you: You are loved.


So many don’t know. This is the big why of the Feast—to welcome each
person and embrace them with God’s Love.

The Power Of AND

When I was much younger, the word balance wasn’t in my vocabulary.

Instead, phrases like “all-out” and “radical” and “total” were my


favorite lines. In my ignorance, I thought balance was just a copout for
cowards.

But as I got older—and hopefully wiser through experience—I realized


many times, life is about achieving harmony between two opposite forces.
Let me give you a very simple example: Work and Rest. In my youth, I was
a workaholic and wore it as a badge of honor. But as I grew older, I began
to value rest as essential to health and happiness.

In this series, FULLNESS, we talk about how to be free from the


tyranny of OR and welcome the power of AND into our lives.

Have an amazing Feast. Have an amazing series.

Talk 1: Goals And Gratitude

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.
(Proverbs 16:3 NIV)

The LORD was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house
of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the LORD was with him
and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found
favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his
household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. From the time
he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the LORD
blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of
the LORD was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the
field. So Potiphar left everything he had in Joseph’s care; with Joseph in
charge, he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate.
(Genesis 39:2-6 NIV)

And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of
Egypt.” Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his hand and put it on
Joseph's hand, and clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold
chain about his neck. And he made him ride in his second chariot. And they
called out before him, “Bow the knee!”[a] Thus he set him over all the land of
Egypt. (Genesis 41:41-43 ESV)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and


petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of
God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your
minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 NIV)

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have


learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well
fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through
him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:12-13 NIV)

On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and


Galilee. 12 And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers,[a] who
stood at a distance 13 and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have
mercy on us.” 14 When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show
yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. 15 Then one
of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a
loud voice;16 and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. Now he
was a Samaritan. 17 Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where
are the nine? 18 Was no one found to return and give praise to God except
this foreigner?” 19 And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith

Between Goals (Achievement) and Gratitude (Appreciation), where is your
strength? Where do you need to work on more? How?

There Is No Conflict

Selfishness and Selflessness are polar opposites.


Some people think Self-Love is equal to Selfishness, so they think Self-
Love is the enemy of Selflessness.
I made that mistake before.
It made my life hell.
And made other people around me experience hell too, because I
taught them my wrong paradigm.
From my experience of trying to follow Jesus for almost 40 years, I
now believe that Self-Love is essential to Selflessness.
You can’t be Selfless without Self-Love.
In fact, I believe Self-Love is the foundation of Selflessness.
That’s the exciting and powerful message we’re going to talk about
today.

Talk 2: Self-Love And Selflessness

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of
them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I
am still with you. (Psalm 139:17-18 ESV)

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the
stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little
lower than the heavenly beings[a] and crowned him with glory and honor.
(Psalm 8:3-5 ESV)

Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in
you? (1 Corinthians 3:16 ESV)

You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment


greater than these. (Mark 12:31 ESV)

Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he
must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.” (Matthew 16:24
NASB)
"Behold, we have left everything and followed You." (Mark 10:28 NASB)
I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ
lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son
of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. (Galatians 2:20 NASB)

Take Down The Barrier

A few days ago, I was in Anawim, our Home for the Abandoned Elderly. 23
years ago, we built it on a five hectare property in Rodriguez (Montalban).
And Chay was there, our editor-in-chief for KFAM newsletter.

Chay, who was already with me at the first decade of the Light of
Jesus Family (we’re 37 years old now), said, “Bo, do you remember that
when we bought this land, you wanted all the members of the community to
relocate here and make it a ‘Witness City’?”

Gosh. How could I forget? This was my thinking at that time: Retreat
from the world. And build a special enclave of Christ-Followers. Imagine
waking up every morning in a gorgeous place where all your next door
neighbors are your church members? Won’t that be perfect?

Thankfully, God hit me on the head. He spoke to my heart and said,


“2000 years ago, I came to incarnate Myself in a broken world, to live
amidst sinful humanity. Do what I did…” This is our life-changing message
for today—There should be no big difference between the sacred and secular
areas of your life.

Talk 3: Spiritual And Secular

28A teacher of the Law was there who heard the discussion. He saw that
Jesus had given the Sadducees a good answer, so he came to him with a
question: “Which commandment is the most important of all?” 29 Jesus
replied, “The most important one is this: ‘Listen, Israel! The Lord our God is
the only Lord. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your
soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second most
important commandment is this: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’
There is no other commandment more important than these two.” (Luke
12:28-31 GNT)

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and
invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things
were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in
him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:16-17 ESV)

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your


bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your
spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by
the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of
God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:1-2 ESV)
