wastewater coming under gravity in W1 sewer line; wastewater coming
under gravity through CS16 sewer line; wastewater coming under gravity
through X1sewer line;
(f) In addition wastewater force main coming from Sri Jayawardhenapura
(g) In the near future new 1400mm trunk sewer will be laid along the Marine
Drive which will be connected to the inlet of the old pumping station of
Wellawatta

Present inflow and discharge scenario and discharge scenario after the Marine
Drive trunk sewer are shown schematically in the attached illustrations in

However, there will be no increase of design flow due to Marine Drive trunk
sewer. This new trunk sewer will intercept the wastewater discharged from Slave
Island, Polwatta and Bambalapitiya pump stations and bring it to Wellawatta.
Presently this wastewater is flowing through the CFM 9 force main. Thus after the
construction of the trunk sewer there will be reduction in the flow coming through
CFM 9 force main and the same quantity will flow through the trunk sewer.

2.73 Volume II – Page :6a – 42, & Page:6c – 3, Answer not finalized. Will be answered later.
As per the Clause 3.6.2 it is indicated that "the maximum wet weather
contribution in 2020 as 60% of the average dry weather flow and in 2040 as
40 % of the Average Dry Weather flow"
Therefore, Wet weather contribution in 2040 is calculated as:
Average Dry Weather Flow of 50 MLD * 0.4= 20 MLD.
Hence, the total Peak Flow in 2040 inclusive of Wet weather is calculated as
50 + 20=70 MLD.
As per the Hydraulic Capacity Standards, the Design Peak flow is indicated
as 65 MLD.
Therefore, We request the Client to clarify the above discrepancies and
confirm the Peak Wet Weather Flow to be considered for the Hydraulic
design of WWTP.
Further, As per Clause no 3.6, point no 233-" Diurnal variation is expected of
the dry weather flow with peak dry weather flow to be between 2.5-3 times
the average daily dry weather flow, and therefore the Peak Dry Weather flow
is worked out as
Average Dry Weather Flow of 50 MLD x 3 times = 150 MLD.
We understand that the above flow of 150 MLD will not pass through the
WWTP and any flow in excess of Design peak flow (as per Hydraulic capacity
standards - Section 6C) will overflow into the Bypass.

1.8 Volume 2, Page 6a-42, Para 234, Could you please detail us this point? There are numerous defects in the sewer collection
network. As a result, there are cross connections with
storm water system at some places. Infiltration and inflow
is also high. As a result, the estimate of wastewater,
inflow, and infiltration quantities may not reflect the true
position accurately. The wastewater characteristics
reported through sampling studies show weak wastewater
strength. This is assumed as mainly due to dilution of
wastewater through the ingress of infiltration and
sometimes inflow of drainage in stromwater system into
the sewer system. Due to system defects the ratio
between wet weather low to dry weather flow can be
higher than what is traditionally expected.

As per Sub-clause 19.2(c), the amount of professional liability insurance is
set at 150% of the Accepted Contract Amount which is unusually high and
unheard of in other similar Contracts. Such requirement may not be even
available in the market. Typically, Professional liability insurance cover only
the design amount in the contract. Please amend this sub-clause to be
in line with standard industrial practice for amount to be covered under
professional liability insurance.
