INTRODUCTION
What is Plumbing??
Origin of the word Plumbing:
The word derived from the Latin for Lead
(PLUMBUM) as the first effective Pipes used in
the roman era were made from lead.
The IPC-2015 definition of Plumbing
System:
A system that includes the water distribution
pipes; plumbing fixtures and traps; water-treating
or water-using equipment; soil, waste and vent
pipes; and building drains; in addition to their
respective connections, devices and
appurtenances within a structure or premises;
and the water service, building sewer and
building storm sewer serving such structure or
premises [IPC-2015-CH2].
Building Plumbing Systems:

A. Potable Water Supply System.
a. Cold Water Supply.
b. Hot Water Supply.
c. Tempered Water Supply.
d. Chilled Drinking Water Supply.
e. Irrigation Water Supply.
B. Non-Potable Water Supply System.
a. Flushing Water Supply.
b. Non-Potable Irrigation Water Supply.
2. Building Drainage System:
A. Sanitary Drainage System.
a. Soil Drainage System.
b. Waste Drainage System.
c. Combined Sanitary System.
B. Storm Water Drainage.
C. Combined Sanitary and Storm Drainage system.
1. Building Water Supply System
A. Potable Water supply System:
POTABLE WATER: Water free from impurities
present in amounts sufficient to cause disease or
harmful physiological effects and conforming to the
bacteriological and chemical quality requirements
of the Public Health Service Drinking Water
Standards or the regulations of the public health
authority having jurisdiction.[IPC-2015-CH2]

It’s the water supply system that supplied plumbing fixtures
with a potable TEMPERED WATER for the purpose of
sanitary from a (mixed water) source.
