Research Paper- Part 2: Gestational Diabetes and Child Health

Statement of the problem, preliminary reference for literature review should you want to review and
comment

Chosen Topic: Gestational Diabetes and Child Health

Group Members: Alejandra Perez, Itzel Dzul, and Karina Almanza
Advisors: Dr. Annette Besnilian and Professor Karmen Ovsepyan

Problem:
There are barriers in communication, a lack of education and other unknown factors that impede
individuals from following precautions and properly managing their gestational diabetes diagnosis. As we
further explore the risks and consequences of uncontrolled gestational diabetes management on the
developing fetus, child and individual in both the short-term and long-term, we hope to gather significant
information to present to individuals that are diagnosed. Ultimately, our goal is to determine the
relationship between gestational diabetes treatments and outcomes to find the most efficient way to help
this population.
