Introduction

The Problem and Its Background:

Diesel engine don’t rely on spark plugs. But they still work by igniting the fuel to
generate a force that moves a cylinder in the engine. The air/fuel mixture in a Diesel Engine is
ignited by the compression of the same cylinder during the “Compression” stroke. That is like
most gasoline engines in cars, Diesel Engines in car’s diesel engine are four – steckc engines.
The compression stroke in a gasoline engine or in a diesel engine, causes heating of the cylinder
contents as the compression happens. Diesel engines are designed to have a more severe
compression of the cylinder contents during the compression of the cylinder contents during the
compression of the cylinder the compression stroke this results in much higher heating of the
contents in fact the temperature becomes so high that the ignition of the fuct and air becomes
spontaneous. You may ask where does the energy to power the compression stroke one from
inertia in the engine as it is running Another way to say it is that the precious power stoke
provides the energy for the compression stroke ( the power stroke is when the exploding air fuel
mixture pushes the cylinder out doing useful work.) there is so much work that there is enough to
move the cars forward as well as provide inertia for the next compression stroke here are some
more web link with helpful explanations: ( end note )

The diesel engine calso known as a compression – ignation or ‘ ci ‘ engine) is an enternal

combustion engine in which ignition of the fuel that has been injected into the combustich
chamber is initiated by the high temperature which a gas achiges when greatly compressed
adiabatic compression.

This contrasts with spark ignition engines such as a petrol engine (gasoline engine) or gas engine
(using a gasseus fuel as opposed to gasoline), which use a spark plugs to ignite an air – fuel
mixture. The diesel engine has the highest thermal efficiency of any standard internal on external
combustion engine due to its very high compression ratio and inarent lean burn which enables
heat dissipation by the excess air in theory diesel engines and gasoline engines are quite similar.
They are both internal combustion engines designed to concert the chemical energy available in
fuel into mechanical energy. This mechanical pistons up and down inside cylinders. The pistons
are connected to a crankshaft and the up and down motion of the pistons, known as linear
motion, creates the rotary motion needed to turn the wheels of a can forward.

Both diesel engines and gasoline engines consent fuel into energy through a series of
small explosions of combustions. The major difference between diesel and gasoline is the way
these explosions happen in a gasoline engine fuel is mixed with air compressed by pistons and
ignited by spark from spark plug’s in a diesel engine however the air is compressed first is
injected because air heats up when its compressed the fuel ignites. Be sure to wactch the
animation at how stuff works. Its quite helful?

This is not another technical antick explaining how the gas and diesel engines works. I
recommend you to nead this before any attempt to by a diesel on a gas engine I’ve seen articles
that explains how high is the compression ratio and difference between a diesel without a spark
plug when compared to gas engine and so no. This has nothing to do with advanced technical
details you won\t find this information here the following questions should provide a better
answer. I have been driving several cars and like everything else in life. I couldn’t notice the
difference between them. Here is a short companion list. ( End Note)

Less expensive to maintain a diesel engine will require more oil then on gas less noise
and vibrations when engine will compared with a diesel engine in most countries you will pay
less ecological taxes (Especially Eunoge) when compared with a diesel. The car emissions are
low so.

A gas engine will put out less particulate matter when compared with a diesel. TSI engines (from
veikswagen) produces almost the same tongue as the diesel engines and they offer a great gas
economy. This means lower consumption and more power. ( End Note )

At a classic gas engine (without turbo, compressor) you will have less turgue. When its
wet you may experience wsome provlems with the spark plugs on other electric parts. At the
diesel engines its’s different story as they are more reliable if we’re thinking that a normal gas
engine will work around 120,000 – 15,000 miles before if needs on ajer hual a diesel can nun at
least three times more around 450,000 – 5000.000 (more miles.) (End Note)

At least now. The diesel engines have more torgur these engines do not need spark plugs
which engines means that are more reliceble than a gas engine. A good diesel engine should
wank around 400,000 – 5000,000 miles without any matan interventions if they are not abused
much you canuse biodiesel so I guess it’s an advantage at least in centian ceccuntrens ( use more
in European union). Taxes are higher in many countries bigger size. They also put out more
particulate matter pollution when compared with petrol engines. They produce more noise and
some vibrations when compared with gas engine. However the differences are not so big as they
were improved so if you’re going to by a common – nail diesel engine should be more reliable
but it will cost lot more to flix, if the engine is damaged. ( End Note)

The most asked question is this which or what engine is right for me? If depends on you
neal needs but usually you need to consider this; if you will make less than 20,000 miles / you
and most to the time you drive that car in city probably the best choice for you would be a car
with gas engines if you will make more than 20,000 milos / years you should know that a diesel
produces more (on better said encomical) re specially if you make more than – 20,000 miles /
year as you can see you need to choose the engine by thinking at how many miles you will make
/ year and many miles you will beep the car at least a couple of years and many miles, go for the
diesel otherwise you may chose a gas engine good luck in choosing your car:
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:

This study identified is the what are the differences between diesel and unleaded gasoline
overhauling. Specially this sought to.

Answer the following Questions.

1. What are the advantage and disadvantages of gasoline engine in the automobile?
2. What are the differences of engine gasoline and diesel?
3. What are the good and the effect of diesel and diesel?

THEORITICAL / CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK OF THE STUDY:

Diesel is harden to ignite at ambient tem due to it’s lower volatility / flash pint (approx.
52c vs 45c). this means its difficult to from an explosive mixture which could be ignited by a
spark (which is a local area at much higher. Than ambient temp.) but inside an engine both diesel
and gasoline are fully evaporated under these conditions diesel is easier to ignite due to lower
auto ignition temperature (approx. 266c 6s 280c ) auto ignition temperature is turned by
additives to help ensure diesel can be ignited to help cusure diesel can be ignited just by
compression, where’s gasoline connect ignite without a spark (End Note)

Thus, diesel fuel contains mostly hydrocarbon molecules that have on average 12 or so
carbon atoms, while gasoline contains hydrocarbons that contain an average 8 on so carbon
atoms. The heavier bigger molecules in diesel fuel means it evaporators more slowly at ambient
condition, require more heating (i.e. more compression) before it spontaneously ignites. Gasoline
contains compounds with carbon chain of containing a certain amount of carbon atoms their
formulas are typically in the range of C7H16 to C11 H24. Diesel fuel on other hand, has carbon
chath somewhere in the area of C13 to C18. However in order for some set of atom’s to qualify as
a chain it most have a certain structure. You could not somehow make. (EN) random hoops of
carbon and call them carbon chains.

I am curious about the flammability of diesel fuel and its properties as I don’t deal with it
on a regular basis at all in particular I want to know how the fuel works when powering a diesel
engine compresses gasoline and air ignite compressed gasoline and air with spark from spark
plug the ignition pushes the piston back turning the crank shaft I have heard that diesel is less
flammable than gasoline and that diesel engines don’t require spark plug. How does this work.
(E.N)
Unleaded gasoline was introduced in the 1970’s when health problems from lead become
apparent in the united states, leaded gasoline for use in an-leaded vehicles was completely
phased act as of January 1, 1996 most other countries have also stopped using leaded gasoline in
vehicles. In 2005 the u.s. congress enceted a kancuceble in fuel standard cres) that set minimum.
Requirements for the use of renewable fuel’s inc. luding ethanol. In motor fuels. # 2007, the KES
tangets were set to rise eteadily to 36 billion gallons by 2022, # 2016 about 14 billion gallas of
ethoual were added to the gasoline consumed in the united stated in most areas of the countries
the retail gasoline that now sold is about 10% ethad be volume. (E.N.)
In the 1890s, Rudolf Diesel invented an efficient compression ignition, internal
combustion engine that bears his name Early diesel engine were large and operated at low speeds
due to the limitations of their compressed air – assisted fuel injection systems. In its early years,
the diesel engine was competing with another heavy fuel oil engine concept the hot bulk engine
invented by akroyd – stuart – high – speed diesel engines were introduced in the 1920s for
commercial vehicle applications and in the 1930 for passenger cars. (E.N.)

Development of Diesel’s invention needed more time and work to become a commercial
success. Many engineers and developers join in the work to improve the market viability of the
idea created by Rudolf Diesel. He, on the other hand became somewhat threated by this proves
and was not always able to find common language with other engine disigners developing his
envention. Diesel’s attempts of market promotion of the not – yet – ready engine eventually led
into a nervous breakdown. (E. N.)\

SCOPE AND DIGIMATION OF THE STUDY:

This study are fuceus in the difference diesil and gasoline unleaded on how the good and
what are difference of this two gasoline are more oil to performe the engine system but diesel are
less oil to perform the engine system. Foccus in the good effect of the car and the deed effect this
study are inpotant to know the difference between the two this study are focus in what are the
difference of diesel to the unleaded gasoline but more of two are the most important are the
gasoline and most effective less oil and the run around are 800,000 to 500,000 miles to but most
of the two are important.
