The realignment of the track is done in of in the following ways:

By Slewing: The operation consists of lateral displacement of the rails by means of crow bars. A
working party of gangmen is required for the operation. The ballast under rail is loosened , the rail
shifted to desired position thoroughly. fig. shows a crow bar .

By Track Liners: When the shifting of the track from original alignment is large the use of tarack
liner is restored to . The rail can be realigned by two or three workmen only. The track liner liner works
in only one direction and hence the shift can be graduallyb increased. Fig. shoes a ‘Tack Liner’
