DOES SOCIAL MEDIA HAVE A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE WORLD?

In your mind already, several thoughts are circulating in response to the
question presented, but wait: you need a platform to carry your opinion.
Your opinion matters but this Position Paper will voice your opinion in ways
unlike ever before. In order to do that, though, we will have to work
together as a class so that you can form your OWN WELL-RESEARCHED RESPONSE
to the topic at hand. Please understand that this is a PROCESS that expands
on skills you have learned from writing your narrative and literary essays.
Therefore, you will be THINKING, READING, WRITING, and SPEAKING and
LISTENING in order to complete this assignment!

NOW, THE BREAKDOWN:

1.) First, you will gain a significant amount of knowledge on the topic by
reading a variety of texts.
2.) Next, you will form your own opinion about social media and its impact on
the world. (POSITIVE or NEGATIVE)
3.) Mr. P. will guide you through the WRITING PROCESS so your final paper
includes the following elements:
a.) Introduction paragraph with HOOK and THESIS
b.) Three body paragraphs with EVIDENCE, EXPLANATION, and ANALYSIS
c.) Conclusion paragraph with SUMMARY and RESTATEMENT of THESIS
4.) Once you have written a Rough Draft, you will REVISE your Rough Draft to
ensure that it includes the elements from #3, word flow, transitions, and
grammar. You will work on this in class with your peers.
5.) FINALLY!!!!! You will make sure your FINAL PAPER is in MLA Format,
includes a Works Cited, and uses in-text citations.
And then it will be Mr. P.’s responsibility to grade your Position Papers! J
