Written by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, honorable President of India. 'Wings of Fire' is an autobiography capable of
inspiring even a common man into becoming a technologist. A well composed novel which revolves around the life
of Mr. Kalam a renowned scientist as he shares his experiences and the minutest of details of his life. This
autobiography comprises of a balance of details of the technological and political challenges faced to prosper in its
aeronautical and space program. It is also a success story of Dr.Kalam's participative management practices. Also,
it gives an insight into the lives of Hindus and Muslims of India and their relationships among each other and among
multi religious communities in India. The story tells us about Kalam's rise from a humble lower-middle class family &
his narrative of India's efforts in rocketry & space technology. Segregated into four sections, the book gradually
reaches for the stars - Orientation, Creation, Propitiation & Contemplation. As a tribute to his mother and father, the
book is dedicated to his parents.

I like the way the book has been put together along with the delicate facts of his personal life. His family
background, the pain and suffering he went through and recollected himself is commendable. The day I finished
reading this book, such an influential personality impacted me very deeply and it gave me a glimpse of how the
power of positive thinking can help achieve all odds..

This book offers an important lesson of finding success from failures of Indian space and rocket infrastructural
programs. A good presentation of the role of other renowned scientists moulding our country's future. This book is
full of information and is a recommended choice for every student, because this book has the influence and power
to motivate a person to stand out in life. "Wings of Fire" is a unique model of accomplishing one's goals, while
fulfilling the promise to its country.

The Kite Runner is the first novel by Afghan-American author Khaled Hosseini. A gripping and emotional story of
betrayal and redemption, The Kite Runner had me thrilled and moved, both at the same time. It tells the story of
Amir and Hassan, the closest of friends, as good as brothers, and also experts in the art of kite flying. The two
young boys live in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, and this year they are going to try harder than ever to win the
local kite-fighting tournament—a popular Afghan pastime, and this is Amir's one hope of winning his father's love.
But just like the kites battling in the sky, war comes to Afghanistan, and the country becomes an extremely
dangerous place.

In war, people are often forced to make great sacrifices, and the young Amir himself commits an act of betrayal,
towards his best friend Hassan no less, which will haunt him for the rest of his life. Amir and his father are forced to
flee Afghanistan for America, and The Kite Runner becomes the story of Amir's quest for redemption – righting the
wrongs he committed all those years ago as a boy in Kabul.

8. Nilai Pengetahuan / Pengajaran

The best bit about the kite runner is its sense of fate and justice, of good overcoming evil in the end, despite all
odds. Without giving away the ending, Amir ends up back in Afghanistan and makes a very different set of sacrifices
in order to set things straight. The final chapter of the book is perhaps my favourite, and one that I have found
moving even when rereading it. The message behind the very ending could be interpreted differently by different
readers, but personally I feel that it offers a small sense of hope for both the future of its characters, and perhaps for
war-torn Afghanistan as well.

Teacher can apply the moral value in this book to students which is, you can't run away from your mistakes, and no
matter what you will one day face the consequences and will have to accept them. Furthermore, this book
was adapted as a motion picture (film). Thus, teacher can show the film to students and apply the moral values.

Voices from Chernobyl is a documentary collection, dozens of those affected by the nuclear reactor disaster in
Chernobyl in 1986 recounting in their own words memories of the event and its aftermath, as well as their current
situations. The interviews, all from 1996, are collected, edited, and arranged by Svetlana Alexievich, but beyond a
brief epilogue (or rather, a brief section entitled: 'In Place of an Epilogue') her voice is practically entirely absent.
Even merely as an inquiring interviewer her voice is absent: the questions she posed or requests she made are not
included either, at best hinted at in the occasional reaction. The book is full of personal tragedies, particularly the
physical damage the radiation caused -- much of it because thousands and thousands of men were sent to work in
and around the disaster-site under impossible conditions, with limited (if any) safety equipment.
Widespread corruption and a political system that was ill-equipped to protect its citizenry contributed to the
spread of the disaster. The state literally tried to turn a deaf ear to the problem: one scientist trying to get through to
a state official on the telephone would simply be disconnected when he broached the touchy subject, despite the
fact that in the first days nearly every minute of delay caused more damage.

One part I'm sure a lot of non-native readers may not understand is, why the old people came back to live in their
poisoned home. No one can ever understand the relationship of the people there, at the time- and their land. Now
we all rent, move around, have new homes with no history or charm. At the time, the land and animals were what
sustained families, what gave them life, what gave meaning to those lives. Ripping away a man from his land was
like ripping away a child from the mother. We, the younger generation, who never cultivated land and depended in it,
will never understand this deep connection. But I was lucky to have witnessed this from my grandparents and can
tell you - the bond is stronger than anything you know.
