Dear Sister:
Greetings of Peace!
Last October 2016, the 4th year MLS students of SSCT conducted a mass blood donation of their donors as
part of their course requirement in MLS 20 at DWH-BB. They were able to procure 14 blood units which were in
turn stored in Blood Bank for patient’s consumption.
Given the success of the activity last year, I would be more grateful to be given the chance to conduct the
same activity again this year. I write this letter to ask permission from your good office that my current students in
MLS 20 be given the same opportunity to have their return demonstration on blood donation collection and be
allowed to use the facilities of Blood Bank in the same way that the previous batch did.
The objectives of this activity include assessing the students’ ability to properly collect blood from donors
as they will be evaluated, understanding the process of blood donation and providing safe blood to our patients in
this hospital.
Since in the process of blood donation, the donors will be tested for CBC, plt, BT, P.E and the five serologic
tests, I would also like to ask for your permission that these tests be granted free of charge. In return, the blood
collected will be stored in the Blood Bank and will also be made available for patient’s use. Attached to this letter is
a copy of the general guidelines to be followed in blood donation and the list of students who will be participating.
The said activity will be held, if permitted, on October 15, 2017, Sunday from 7AM to 3PM. This is to avoid
any congestion in the section’s workflow.
