Dialogic teaching practice is a type of participation in classroom discourse in which students are engaged, autonomous and cognitively stimulated. In the research, a one-year action research teacher development programme was conducted to eight Czech teachers in lower secondary schools. The video recordings made before and after the programme were analyzed: the analysis showed a significant change in classroom discourse and there had been an increase in the amount of student talk with reasoning. The significant change is attributed by the changes in teacher communication behavior, and this is also viewed as an important shift that has a key influence on students’ learning. Teacher’s strategies and ways of imparting knowledge to students plays a vital role in influencing students’ learning. Because of this, teachers should be well-knowledgeable in their fields. They should also be well-trained in terms of teaching strategies in order to produce more competitive individuals in the society. As future educator, I have learned that it would really be great to put more emphasis on developing students’ power of talk with reasoning, stimulating and extending their thinking, and advancing their learning and understanding rather than merely focusing on students’ memorization skills. This may actually be made possible with the aid of implementation of dialogic teaching in the classroom setting because base on the research result, this teaching style enriches students’ argumentation. Indeed, there is a great possibility of having a positive implication if dialogic teaching will be practiced by the teachers of different schools. In addition, there will be a gradual increase of academic competence. Students’ use of cognitive skills will be more developed. Dialogic teaching style may actually contribute in having more globally competitive individuals in the society. This may lead to more inventions and innovation because of having more developed creative mind.
