Instructions

1. Ctrl m: opens the form UnitConver.

With the cell pointer on the quantity to be converted, press:
2. Ctrol e: to fill in the name of the input variable in the chosen cell. The program loads the conversion formula to SI in the cell at the right and assigns the given name.
3. Ctrl + shift s: to find the name of the output variable. The program loads the conversion formula to the adjacent unit in the cell pointer's cell.
4. Ctrl + shift c: to supply a quantity in any unit in the form and have the program load it in the cell pointer's cell, previous conversion to the adjacent unit.
5. Units can be changed using the menu in each cell.
6. For each section of pipe, fill in the corresponding data in a row. The programs considers consecutive rows with non-zero diameter as series-connected in the sense of flow.
For an equipment (filter, exchanger, etc.), fill in inlet nozzle diameter and the same data as for a section of pipe (length may be that of inlet/outlet nozzles or 0 and a value of K for internal friction).
The flow rate in operating conditions is defined for each series-connected section (it may vary, if there are branches or a change in density).
Pressures are left blank, save for an initial pressure in the first section or a final one in the last section. That single value can be a formula, using the results in other cells.
For independent lines, fill in any two of the following: flow rate, initial pressure (pipe or stagnation), final pressure (pipe or stagnation).
The elevation corresponds to the pressure measurement point (e. g., the manometer center). The pipe axis or the vessel interface level are usual reference points.
When the pipe is connected to a vessel in the initial section, the stagnation pressure referred to the interface level (equal to vessel presure) is the usual input.
When the pipe is connected to a vessel below the interface level in the final section, the pipe pressure referred to the interface level (equal to vessel presure) is the usual input.
Initial and final row of the range to be calculated must always be defined.
7. The program registers the formulas/values of flow rate and pressure input at the end of the row. Data Back reloads this input befor running again with some modifications.
8. RUN shows the results in the selected units, and also registers data and results in SI units in the same row.
If units are changed after running a set of lines, Unit Change adjusts data and results to the new units, using the SI registers in each row.
9. K List describes the fittings of the chosen rows in the sheet Lista_Acc, below the last description.
10. ID must be called from the cell where the inside diameter is required (in the sheet InputOutput or in the sheet K).
K can be called from any cell in the row where the sum of K for valves and fittings is required.
The other macros (Data Back, K List, RUN & Unit Change) can be called from any cell in InputOutput and are performed for the selected rows.
11. In the sheet Pumps, the pump required to transfer the fluid from the last suction section to the first discharge section can be calculated, loading the row numbers of these two sections.
The button Pump loads the values of the suction and discharge sections and the pump formulas. Completing datum elevation, minimum atmospheric pressure and maximum vapor pressure
and pressing F9, the pump characteristics are obtained. Pressing Chart a table is created for flow rates from 0 to 130 % of the input flow and the graphs of pump head and NPSH versus
flow rate are obtained. The system is considered to operate between two vessels (initial stagnation pressure and final pipe pressure are considered constant).
All heads are referred to the density at the pump suction.
12. In the sheet NPSHR, an estimation of NPSHR can be obtained as a function of the flow rate and the shaft speed. Also the safety margin between NPSHA and NPSHR is recommended.
13. To change the language of the titles, copy ranges STIT, STIT1, SPANK, SPUMP, SCHART (in Spanish) or ETIT, ETIT1, ENGLK, EPUMP, ECHART (in English).
