Thesis Statement: Mass Media is breaking the walls of heteronormativity because it is an
instrument of change, it shapes and reforms our perspective of accepting deviations from norms
and it provides a new understanding of society.

1st claim:
Mass Media is a helpful tool to change society’s understanding of heteronormativity.
Pro: Mass Media takes on many forms and informs the whole lot.
Con: Mass Media can manipulate information and is detrimental when misused.
Pro: It serves as an avenue for synergy of both positive and negative takes on heteronormativity.

2nd claim:
Mass Media reflects the present situation and challenges the norms.
Pro: It enables us to see the relevance of the issue or heteronormativity in our everyday lives.
Con: Not all forms of mass media glorify the change of views regarding heteronormativity.
Pro: It allows for reflection and questioning of the current status quo and initiates a whole new
perspective on how we deal with heteronormativity.

3rd claim:
Mass media provides a new understanding of society.
Pro: It has the power to modify the public opinion of the masses into acceptance of a new view
of society.
Con: The messages provided by mass media is subject to personal opinions of the audiences.
