Target group A group of young local volunteers; youngsters who come from orphanages.
What kind of volunteer Flexibility is one the requirements the volunteer is asked, since he will need to work
institution needs? with motivated youngster‘s group in one activities and youngsters who are not
motivated at all. Also a volunteer is asked to have at least basic understanding about
youth work.
Volunteer’s tasks - To be part of the team in two centers of the organization (Volunteer’s Centre and
Independency Development Centre “Kitaip”);
- Participation in weekly team (working with local volunteers) meetings to evaluate
accomplished activities and plan further ones. In these meetings we share the tasks,
reflect personal situations in the project and discuss new opportunities;
- Preparing, or helping to prepare weekly meetings for local volunteers – finding
interesting topics and materials, searching for active non-formal methods for the
meetings (the meetings are always prepared in a team with one or more team members).
- Activities with local volunteers – organizing and moderating weekly meetings for (at
least once per week), where voluntary experiences are evaluated, and interesting topics
are tackled, games played, films watched and discussed.
- Preparation for English language clubs – preparing the materials and the space where
the class is held.
- Individual English language clubs for Independency Development Centre’s “Kitaip”
target group, Youth Centre’s “Vartai” target group;
- Together with the help of the Independency Development Centre’s “Kitaip” staff,
organize sport activities inside or outside for center’s target group;
- Distributing the information about the activities of “Actio Catholica Patria”. We try to
spread information about concerts and workshops in Kaunas. It would be helpful if the
volunteer would take part in this process, in form of making flyers, information booklets,
handing them out in the street;
- Together with other international volunteers taking part in organized venues,
conferences to tell the experiences about EVS, to organize information meetings with
people interested people, who want the culture and experiences to be shared;
- Cooperation, making connections with other organizations and people, who somehow
participate in the activities of the “Actio Catholica Patria”.
- Implementing their own ideas: workshops, seminars, training, film screening, open
evenings, concerts, so on.

Challenges volunteers - The volunteer would be the first EVS participant for these activities in the organization,
might face so the expectations might be very big for him/ her.
Money 275,2 Litas (80 €) – pocket money; 300 Litas – food money/ per month
Housing - Volunteers are accomodated in a rented flat of two or three rooms;
- Each volunteer has a spare room (some of the rooms are cross-through);
- All the taxes are payed, the volunteers don’t have to take care of it;
- The volunteers are asked to “think ecologicaly” and not to waste energy or water if they
don’t need it (not to leave light on, water tap open and etc.);
- The volunteers are asked to keep their house clean, not to smoke inside and look after
it.
- Some of the flats are located not far from the city center, some a bit outside;
- The volunteers are accomomodated according to the location of their project.
Travels - The volunteers are provided with a monthly ticket for local means of transport in
Kaunas (busies and trolley-buses);
- The travels to National agencie’s and other training are refunded.
Language - English will be widely used during the trainings, group meetings and group activities,
etc;
- Lithuanian language classes will be organized during first 4 months, twice a week in a
professional language school (Lithuanian classes are obligatory and are a prior to other
activities).
