Role Summary:

Provide a professional and technically competent Mechanical


Integrity & Project Engineering function for UK Chemical
Manufacturing
Ensure the continued safe operation and maintainability of new
and existing equipment and systems on site.
To set up and manage written schemes for pressure systems,
tanks & pipework. Develop the systems to full infrastructure
integrity.
Deliver project engineering and assurance for projects and
Management of Change plant changes, including fit-for
purpose specification and selection of mechanical equipment,
both static and rotating.

Essential Responsibilities:
Support the Engineering and Maintenance manager in relation to the
strategy for site integrity & reliability .
Responsible and accountable for the requisite site engineering standards

Management of site 3rd party inspection services


Drive and champion site engineering continuous improvement initiatives
Proactively investigate areas of engineering & improvements to help
initiatives to improve site overall OEE.
Support maintenance staff with technical advice, application engineering,
incident investigation and project scope definition.
Develop improvement projects from concept through lifecycle to
implementation/delivery; be the lead Engineer on some projects and
provide assurance that legislative and company standards are
implemented.
As lead project engineer, develop scope and implement small to medium
scale management of change and projects
Advise others/Coach/Team on operations in running equipment reliably and
safely, by participating in technical meetings, improvement/MOC
discussions and plant continuous improvement proposals
Lead specific working groups in the investigation and implementation of
improvement projects and initiatives.
Assist in project planning and review.
Assist with specifications for capital equipment procurement projects
Provide training and act as resource for less experienced employees.
Presentation of work, reports and recommendations to senior management
Responsible for fulfilling individual goals and objectives as well as
contributing to the goals and objectives of the team.
Special projects as assigned.
Any Other Duties as Required

Qualifications/Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent
Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status would be
advantageous
Experience of providing Mechanical Engineer support within a
chemical/petrochemical industry
Experience of working on a COMAH /regulated manufacturing site would be
beneficial
Experience of managing Pressure systems and bulk storage of hazardous
products
Experience of project management (short/long term), process
improvements and general manufacturing initiatives
Technical experience in relation to mechanical analysis of equipment,
reliability and utilization
Experience of mechanical engineering in a maintenance function
Awareness of Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) legislation
Knowledge of Project lifecycles & implementations
Awareness of Management of Change (MOC) system requirements
Awareness of compliance with DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and
Explosive Atmospheres Regulations
Knowledge of legislative and best practice standards associated with
mechanical engineering discipline (e.g. PER/PSSR) as well as with regard
to standards associated with the design, fabrication and installation of pipe
work
Understanding of maintenance concepts (reactive, preventative, condition
based etc.)
An understanding of facilitating small and medium groups. and motivating
and leading teams
Understanding of improvement techniques as applied to manufacturing
Ability to work autonomously and drive process in relation to targets and
goals
Ability to be flexible and adapt to a high paced environment
Communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to be diplomatic and negotiate with others enabling a successful
outcome for all parties
Problem solving skills
Analytical skills.
Project management and organisational skills.
Skills in facilitating teams would be beneficial
Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative
Skilled in identifying process improvements
Skills in the use of Microsoft Office packages
Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines
Able to produce and understand RA (Risk Assessments)
Able to produce and understand MS (Method Statements)
Awareness of the correct use and function of all PPE
Awareness of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)

Awareness of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and their explicit
meaning

Desired Characteristics:
Previous experience with Maximo or other CMMS would be beneficial
Skills in the use of SAP would be beneficial
Skills in the use of Microsoft Office packages
