STATEMENT OF PROBABLE CAUSE 2/7/2018 11:26:41 AM
Stearns County, MN

The Complainant states that the following facts establish probable cause:

On February 5, 2018 at approximately 8:38 p.m., Sartell police officers were dispatched to Walmart at 21
County Road 120, in the City of Sartell, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota, in reference to a stolen
motor vehicle complaint. The complainant and owner of the motor vehicle M.L.N., fully identified in the
police reports, stated when she was inside Walmart she started the vehicle with her remote start and the
vehicle was running outside. Walmart employees reviewed video surveillance and observed a light skin
colored male, wearing a black jacket and light colored pants, getting into the vehicle and driving it away
from the parking lot at approximately 8:35 p.m.

At approximately 10:40 p.m., M.L.N. received a phone call from a female who stated she was with a male
who had questions about her vehicle. The male then got on the phone and stated his name was Wayne
Hennen. The male stated that he worked for Safe Lite Auto Glass and completed the work on her vehicle.
The male stated the vehicle was picked up at a Walmart in Sartell. The male made reference to needing
help to get the vehicle back to her. The male stated he put the vehicle in park and now it will not start. The
male asked M.L.N. to contact Northstar so they could start the vehicle for him and that he would bring the
vehicle back to her. M.L.N. stated the male gave her an address of where the vehicle was at, at 585 Poplar
Avenue, in the City of Isle, Minnesota. M.L.N. contacted law enforcement.

At that same time, Officer Buecksler with the Isle Police Department went to 585 Poplar Avenue for a
suspicious person complaint. Officers were advised that the reporting party said a male individual she did
not know had stopped at her apartment and was asking for information that she did not know. As Officer
Buecksler was responding to the residence, he received information through dispatch that Stearns County
had contacted them to report a stolen motor vehicle that was possibly in the parking lot of the apartments.
Officer Buecksler observed that the stolen 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee bearing Minnesota license plate
850JRD , was in the parking lot and was unoccupied. Officer Buecksler made contact with the reporting
party, V.R.L., fully identified in the police reports, and a male who was identified as Edward Leroy Wilson,
DOB: 12/28/1980, the defendant herein.

Officer Buecksler spoke with the defendant who stated he was from Safe Lite and was bringing the vehicle
back. Officer Buecksler asked him what vehicle and the defendant informed him the Jeep Grand Cherokee
in the parking lot. The defendant matched the description of the male that was observed taking the stolen
motor vehicle in the Walmart surveillance video and had a black jacket and light colored pants on. The
defendant was placed under arrest and later read his Miranda warning. The defendant admitted that he got
the Jeep Grand Cherokee at Walmart. The defendant advised that he knew the vehicle was not his. The
defendant advised that he knew that it was not a good idea to get in the vehicle.

Complainant has reason to believe and does believe that all of the above information is true and correct.

The above facts constitute complainant's basis for believing that the above-named defendant, on or about
the 5th day of February, 2018, in the City of Sartell, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota, committed the
offense(s) described herein.
