Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York, AFL-CIO

Endorses Assemblyman Jonathan Bing
New York, NY – With the Democratic Primary Election only one week away, Assemblyman
Jonathan Bing’s campaign continues to gain momentum with the endorsement of the Building
and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York, AFL-CIO. The Building and
Construction Trades Council (BCTC) is comprised of local affiliates of fifteen national and
international labor unions representing more than 100,000 hardworking men and women in the
five boroughs of New York City in trades as varied as metalworking, painting, plumbing,
bricklaying and crane operating.

The BCTC endorsement comes on the heels of endorsements from New York’s leading labor
unions including SEIU 32BJ; International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council
9; Mason Tenders District Council; Civil Service Employees Association; AFSCME Local 2507;
the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 1500; Communication Workers of
America Local 1182; and, the Bridge and Tunnel Officers Benevolent Association.

"The Building and Construction Trades are proud to endorse Assemblyman Jonathan Bing for re-
election,” stated BCTC of Greater New York President Gary LaBarbera. “Jonathan has been a
strong advocate for New York's working families and has a solid record of support for projects
and policies to create good jobs. We need that kind of leadership now more than ever during this
economic downturn."

In response to the significant outpouring of support from organized labor, Assemblyman Bing
expressed his appreciation and his strong desire to continue to fight for the major infrastructure
and construction projects New York needs to improve our economy and create good jobs. “It is
an honor to have the support of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New
York for my re-election to the State Assembly. This great organization of more than 100,000
New Yorkers forms the backbone of our City. I am proud to stand with them as we continue to
fight to create good jobs and get our economy back on track,” noted Bing.

As evidenced by Assemblyman Jonathan Bing’s broad spectrum of support, he has proven

himself as a leader to the labor movement, environmental and women’s rights advocates, LGBT
activists, and good government organizations. Other advocacy organizations endorsing
Assemblyman Bing include Planned Parenthood of NYC Action Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice NY,
New York League of Conservation Voters, Sierra Club, Citizens Union (preference), National
Association of Social Workers, Empire State Pride Agenda, and Democrats for Education
Reform.

Jonathan Bing was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2002. A third-generation East
Sider, Democrat Jonathan Bing has been a leader in the fight to clean up state government,
enrich our public school curriculums with arts education, and expand access to more affordable
healthcare. He is running for re-election in the 73rd District for the New York State Assembly so
that he can continue to stand up for East Side families and effectively tackle the unique
challenges facing our community. For more information, please visit www.JonathanBing.com.
