Scope of Position
The Fundraising units and teams within the Public Engagement section is
responsible for increasing and enhancing the range of opportunities for the
Australian community to financially support the work of Oxfam Australia.
The Events Volunteer Officer is responsible for supporting the Events Volunteering
Coordinator to deliver a holistic Volunteer management service for Events that
ensures a quality supporter experience with a focus on increased participation and
higher retention that will contribute to grow net income.
They will also focus on contributing to leveraging the Events portfolio, to build the
life time value of the supporter base for Oxfam Australia.
This position plays an important role in ensuring that all of Oxfam’s fundraising
events positively and accurately reflect the work, values, and vision of Oxfam
Australia.

1. Key Responsibilities
1.1 Contribute to the development of the Events portfolio three year strategic plan and
annual business plan to maximize income from the current experiential events
portfolio and drive growth through new product development.
1.2 Assist with implementation of volunteer recruitment strategy, scheduling and the
monitoring of progress to appropriately resource events
1.3 Supervise volunteers for outbound calling, office administration and with tasks
including the allocation of shifts
1.4 Track the recruitment of volunteers and prepare progress reports for the
Volunteering Coordinators and Operations Coordinators.
1.5 Manager the Volunteering Event Inbox
1.6 Prepare content for and provide support with regards to executing the Volunteer
supporter journey
1.7 Organise and provide online volunteer training and support Operations Coordinators
to deliver localised face to face training, if required.
1.8 Contribute to development of volunteer training programs and materials
1.9 Provide general administration with regards to delivering a national events
fundraising volunteering management service
1.10 Contribute to the continuous improvement of the volunteer database and
coordination system and the preparation of updated processes and procedure
documentation.
1.11 Coordinate volunteers involved in event delivery, creating detailed and accurate
documentation for volunteers and ensure they are appropriately briefed and that
they are motivated, informed and work in a safe and cost effective way
1.12 Apply Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) best practice and minimise risks to
volunteers by coordinating appropriate shift allocation(s), break time(s), catering,
transport, accommodation and/or any areas relating to volunteer health, wellbeing
and safety
1.13 Monitor general industry and market trends, interpret and share how they can be
used to improve Oxfam Fundraising Events
1.14 Other related duties as delegated

2. Budget
2.1 Contribute to the development of income targets and monitor expenditure against
budget for the event/project.

3. Policy
3.1 The position has no responsibility for the development of organisational policy.

4. Human Resources
4.1 The position has no responsibility for the supervision of paid staff but may be
required to recruit, train and supervise volunteers
4.2 Required to undertake job responsibilities in a manner consistent with equity,

4.3 Monitor workload and work environment and take reasonable steps to minimise
risks to self and others

5.1 Customer service experience
5.2 Knowledge of basic marketing principals
5.3 Experience supervising and training volunteers
5.4 Experience in project management (desirable)
5.5 Experience in relationship management (desirable)

7. Travel
Interstate travel is a requirement of the position and some overseas travel may be
required.
It is a condition of employment that staffs abide by all agency security and safety
