1. Look at the table below and describe it in 40 seconds.

The table shows the portion of national expenditure of 5 countries in three


different categories – food, clothing & education in 2002. In terms of
food/drinks/tobacco, & education/leisure Turkey spent the most, while in terms
of clothing/footwear, Italy spent the most. Overall, all countries – Spain,
Sweden, Turkey, Italy, Ireland spent most on food/drinks/tobacco & lowest
expenditure was on leisure/ education.
2. Look at the table below and describe it in 40 seconds.

The given table shows data on underground railway system in six


metropolitan cities namely: London, Paris, Tokyo, Washington DC, Kyoto and
Los Angeles. Tokyo railway has the largest passenger using the system &
Kyoto railway has the smallest passenger base. Overall, it can be inferred
from the presentation that most of the early built and longest rail routes have
significantly higher number of passengers, compared to modern and short
length transit systems.

3. Look at the table below and describe it in 40 seconds.

The table shows the number of children born to women aged 40–44 years in
Australia in 1981, 1986, 1996 and 2006. Overall, by age 40-44 years, the
proportion of women who have had three or more children has fallen
considerably since the 1980s, while the proportions who have had no children,
or only one or two children has increased. To conclude, we say that women in
Australia are preferring one child or two children at most.

1. Describe the given below bar diagram

The graph compares the amount of leisure time enjoyed by people of different
employment levels.

In the given column graph, no data has been provided for the part-time
employed and house-staying men. Unemployed & retired men -women had
approx 85 and 83 hours of spare time respectively. They are followed by
housewives which have 50 hours of leisure time. On the other hand, full-time
employed men & women have comparatively less leisure time
In conclusion, unemployed and retire people, enjoyed more leisure time than
employed people.

2. Describe the given below bar diagram

This particular bar graph shows how much money is spent on transportation
for people in different household income groups. It appears that as household
income increases, the total expenditures on transportation also increase. This
makes sense, because the more money people have, the more they have
available to spend.
3. Describe the given below bar diagram

The bar chart shows the urbanization percentage of the world in 1950 and
compares this with the percentage in 2007 and the projected percentage for
2030.

The highest urbanization between 1950-2007 has happened in Africa & Asia
where urbanization rate has doubled. It is also clear from the graph that,
urbanization in Latin America is projected to be higher than Europe in 2030, in
spite of being lower in 1950.

To conclude, we can say by 2030, the proportion of the world’s population


residing in cities is expected to double.

1. Look at the pie chart and describe it in 40 seconds.

The pie chart is about the distribution of sources of energy. The two graphs
show that oil was the major energy source in the USA in both 1980 and 1990
and that coal, natural gas, and hydroelectric power remained in much the
same proportions. On the other hand, there was a dramatic rise in nuclear
power, which doubled its percentage over the ten years. To conclude, we can
say that the USA has started shifting from oil to nuclear power.

The two pie charts compare the percentages of online sales across different
retail sectors in Canada in the years 2005 and 2010. In 2010, Food &
Beverage captures the largest proportion of the online market with 32%
market share while Home Furnishings holds the smallest portion of online
sales. During the five-year period, we can see that people are preferring
to purchase the video game and food & beverage online whereas online sales
of home furnishing industry & electronics and appliance have fallen
considerably.

3. Look at the pie chart and describe it in 40 seconds.

The given illustration compares the amounts spent on restaurant foods and on
home cooking foods in four different years. In the year 1990, 90% of total food
budget was spent on home-made foods but in 2010, a average family spent
only 50 % of total budget on home made meals. It shows people’s habit of
having meals in restaurants. To conclude, we can say that through more than
thirty years, having meals in a restaurant whether in fast food or sit-down one
has become very popular.

The pie chart above shows people preferred mode of commuting in a


particular city. As the data demonstrates, 42 percent of population commutes
to work by Metro while 23 percent prefer local buses. 24 percent of working
populace commutes by bike while just a small proportion of 11 percent prefers
commuting by car. Quite evidently metro remains the most preferred mode of
commuting as opposed to car which is preferred by just a small number of
working population.

The bar graph above shows the average number of hours spent on social
media by males and females from various categories in year 2014. It is
evident that on an average male students spent about 6 hours on social
media everyday while female students spent little more than 6 hours. Self
employed males were found to spend little less than 4 hours while females
spent about 2.5 hours everyday which is higher than employed males and
females who spend an average of 2 and 1.5 hours respectively. Retired males
spent an average of 1 hour on social media while females spent an average of
just 30 minutes on social media.

The line graph above shows the trend of increase and decrease in the pricing
of electronic items such as mobile phones, television and laptops between the
span of year 2015 and 2017. It's apparent from the graph that average price of
mobile phones plummeted in 2017 as compared to 2016 and 2015. While
television sets got a bit expensive in 2016 as compared to 2015 and were at
their cheapest in 2017, prices of laptops dipped year by year.

The bar graph above illustrates the average number of facebook friends in variegated age groups. As
depicted in the graph, teenage males between the age of 12-18 were observed to have about 250
facebook friends while female teenagers had little less than 300 friends. Users aged 18-24 had about
400-550 friends on an average in which females had more facebook friends than males. Males aged
24-35 had about 320 friends while females had over 400 friends on an average. People between the
age group of 35-50 were observed to have higher number of facebook friends as compared to all the
categories mentioned before but in this particular category males had more number of friends than
females as opposed to the previous categories.

The table above shows the number of smartphone owned by an average


family in year 2013, 2015 and 2017. The comparison clearly indicates the rise
in the number of smartphones year by year in an average household.
Percentage of families with just one smartphone was higher in 2013 as
compared to families who owned two, three or more smartphones. The trend
changed in the coming years- 2015 and 2017 when the percentage of families
with just one smartphone slumped as the proportion of households with 2, 3 or
more smartphones increased. It's obvious that the number of families with two
smartphones was the highest in 2017 while the ones with just one was at the
lowest.

This horizontal bar graph depicts various shopping methods which are effect
the satisfaction of consumers. The survey is done with a customer base of
500.The Vertical axis displays the various shopping methods like local shop,
internet, supermarket and private shopping used by consumers. As per
records displayed, the percentage of neutral consumers is almost same in all
methods, where has the percentage of consumers who are positively effected
can be seen in private shopping methods.

The flow chart illustrates the process on how a person could become a doctor.
First, a person will have to complete a 4-year bachelor’s degree followed by 4
years in medical school. After which they will have to take part in an internship
program for a period of 3-7 year. After a completing the internship program if a
person doesn’t want to specialize they could direct sit for the licensing exam
but if they want to specialize they will have to complete a fellowship for 1-3
years and then take the licensing exams. The final step is to receive the
medical license.

The line graph represents the average energy consumption per household in
the UK. It can clearly be seen that during first 4 hours Britain consumed less
amount of electricity in summer and winter. On the other hand, as time passed
the electricity consumption rose gradually in both the seasons until during
night they used less electricity. To sum up,the average consumption per
household was the highest in summer and used less amount in winter.
