MARANAO RIDO: IMPLICATIOM TO EDUCATION

Rido is a Maranao term commonly used to refer to clan feuds. It is characterized by


spiradic outburst of retaliatory violence between families and kinship groups, as well as
between communities. The study was conducted in the municipality of Pantao Ragat covering
one year, 2016-2017. The descriptive research design was used in the study. The study was
two Hundred respondents, twentyfive of them are the faculty of schools in Pantao Ragat Lanao
Del Norte, one hundred are parents, and another seventy-five are students. It used
questionnaire and interview in data gathering. Frequency counts, percentages distribution and
weighted mean were utilized in analyzed in analyzing data. The impacts of rido to education
are the following: it decreases the enrollees; students are afraid to go to school; it minimizes
the school activities; it causes the lack of cooperation among parents and teachers; and it
results to lack of social interaction. Furthermore, as to the perception of the parent-respondents
regarding rido, the following are the most cited: it is one of the reasons why most Marano did
not finish their study; the education of the children gets neglected; financial burden to the
parents; community relationship is highly affected; parents cannot cooperate with the school
activities; and rido is a hindrance to education. However, in terms of the perception of the
student-respondents regarding rido the following were being responded: most of the students
are slow learner; they have trouble gathering and organizing their projects and assignments;
have difficulty getting work done if they know something bad will happen; it made them
stronger in decision making; rido really ruins ones’ life; it is burden to them; and it develops
inferiority complex.

will understand the background of the issue(s) and the
objectives of the presentation.
5. Relevance: Material presented in abstracts must be concise and
coherent, with the focus of the abstract and its relevance to an
international audience stated clearly.
