DENNIS AND LOCKE TECHNIQUE
(SKETCHUP TO PHOTOSHOP RENDERING) (3-4 HOURS)
1. Make sure that you have practiced using basic Sketchup and Photoshop commands so that
you can proceed (30 minute to brush up).
2. Open up Rendering Techniques by Andrew Haskin (PDF) on the provided OneDrive link at our
FB Group. You will go through the steps outlined in the document to create a scene rendered
using the DENNIS and LOCKE technique (5 minutes to locate the file).
3. Before you can render the scene, you need to have a scene. Go to
https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/ and download elements for a scene to render. The
scene must be complete (ground, landscaping, structure, or interior and furniture) as
characterised in the document (30 minutes to create the scene on Sketchup).
4. Once you are satisfied your scenery has sufficient elements to provide for a good render (as
described in the document):
A. Render the scene using the DENNIS TECHNIQUE, pages 6 to 20 (1 hour).
B. Render the scene using the LOCKE TECHNIQUE, pages 21 to 39 (1 hour).
5. Once complete, save your work as a JPG file and send your output to
aaron@aaronlecciones.com in one email with the file name AR4-SECTION-EX8-LASTNAME-
DENNIS.JPG and AR-SECTION-EX8-LASTNAME-LOCKE.JPG; subject should be AR4-SECTION-
EX8-LASTNAME
6. Don’t forget to save your Sketchup and Photoshop files on the local drive for your reference.
