Fat and cholesterol are the children of the same parent, ie lipid but they are not

the same.

Cholesterol is a waxy substance and are present in every cell of our body to
generate many important hormones in the body.
They are produced by the liver. Though cholesterol is not bad for health, we should
not eat any more cholesterol externally
as this can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Fat on the other hand is a type of lipid that helps to protect our organs and body
from sudden shock and is also a great
source of energ. It yields calories when oxidised and is produced by mostly all
cells of our body.
