THE FOUNDATION LEVERAGES OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP AND KNOWLEDGE TO MAKE EP BETTER

MAKING GRANTS & MEMORIES

we organized a community thank-you to the vikings as they moved to eagan. but most
of our focus was on helping kids, seniors, and others through granting & leadership

In the spirit of collaboration, the Eden Prairie Community

Foundation in October partnered with the City of Eden Prairie,
Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools, and the Eden Prairie
Chamber of Commerce to say thanks -- but hopefully not
farewell -- to the Minnesota Vikings as they moved their
headquarters and training facility to Eagan after more than 36
years in EP.

More than 125 people attended this community thank-you, which

featured as speakers former Vikings great Chuck Foreman, Mayor
Nancy Tyra-Lukens, former school principal Bob Hallett, and
Vikings owner Zygi Wilf. WCCO's Mike Max was emcee for the
event, held at Bearpath Golf & Country Club.

Another new event was The GIVE Gathering, a volunteer fair and
nonprofit training workshop which the Foundation sponsored
with Eden Prairie Schools Community Education. The purpose
was to connect local nonprofits and civic organizations with
people interested in becoming volunteers or members. More
than 140 persons were part of this first-time community
engagement event, which will return on April 19, 2018.

The Foundation's board of directors in 2017 also agreed to

expand the Dr. Jean L. Harris Scholarship so that a recipient
could receive two years of funding, not just one.

But the heart of the Foundation's 2017 was its granting, including
direct grants presented in April to the following:

- Providing curricula and materials to counsel teens

- Funding tech needs at a local women's shelter
- Supporting food delivery to home-bound seniors
- Lowering fees at an EP camp serving the disabled
- Providing new sound equipment at Staring Lake Park
- Funding the "Shop with a Cop" program
- Lowering fees for a robotics camp attended by local kids
- Providing after-school activity scholarships for youngsters
- Supporting the CounterAct fifth-grade curriculum
- And much more!
