At a minimum, participants with equivalent skills and background should review the
guided learning path and successfully pass the prerequisite assessment test to ensure
they possess the background necessary to benefit from participation in the boot
camp.

Topics Covered and Agenda
This boot camp begins with a general overview of HFM and then moves into
creating an application and setting up profiles. The next topic is Metadata modeling.
It walks students through setting up HFM dimensionality including all the required
dimensions and the customs. Advanced topics covered include alternate hierarchies,
attributes, and importing/exporting.
The course provides a walk through introduction to BPM Architect, the metadata
modeling tool. After modeling, students will review loading data to HFM and the
various alternatives available for developers.
The next major topic is an extensive coverage of Rules. The course includes all the
basics to get students started as well as some advanced topics to make sure they are
proficient at creating Rules. It then focuses on some deployment topics such as
Security showing students how to create and manage user and group access within
HFM using Shared Services.
The last part of the class focuses on End-user deployment including creating and
modifying grids and forms, debits and credits with journals, inter-company
reporting, and process control, and building reports using the Smart View client.
The course covers Workspace for reporting and integration with the Microsoft
Office suite and finishes by covering the essential components of Financial
Reporting including formatting reports, advanced member selections, working with
formulas, adding charts, deploying reports with books and batches.
Finally, the boot camp addresses management issues such as security, backing up
Reports, and other administration topics.

The class environment for this Boot Camp consists of isolated student workstation-
based individual lab environments. The student environment runs on the
BIC2G:EPM virtual machine image
