A) Theme: Courage

B) Passage: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.” (Prov. 18:10,
NRSVC)

C) Reflection: Courage is defined as, “mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand
danger, fear, or difficulty.” In this passage, we learn that God is a source of strength for all those who
are faithful. Whenever we are confronted with a difficult time, we can always turn to the Lord for
protection. Those who are righteous, or free from sin, know to always trust in the Lord for safety. They
know they have nothing to fear because God is always ready to protect them. Even for those who have
sinned, God is always ready to forgive if they only ask. This passage shows the importance of finding
God’s protection in our lives.

D) Prayer: God, our strong protector, thank You for Your unlimited safekeeping. Help us to learn how to
place our trust in You when we approach our most difficult situations. Please give us the courage to
face our persecutors. Help us to understand that You will always be there for us, no matter what life
throws our way. Help us to have complete faith in You. Help us to believe that You have a wonderful
plan for each and every one of us.
We pray that everyone discovers happiness in their lives through You. We pray for those who are poor,
unstable, depressed, lonely, and angry, that they will learn to turn to You for safety. We pray for
everyone struggling today, that they may find their peace with You. Please help these people find the
courage to make it through the worst days. We pray that every person is grateful for their opportunity
to be alive.
We pray that every person strives for righteousness. We pray that they have the courage to offer up
their sins to You. We pray that they each develop a genuine relationship with You and that they can
find comfort in You.
Lastly, thank You for forgiving us countless times. Help us to appreciate all that You have done for us.
Thank You for protecting all who come to You for support, no matter how many times they have
sinned against You.
We ask this through the strong and loving name of Your son, Jesus. One God, forever and ever. Amen.
