INTRODUCTION TO SPACE AND GRAVITY
-There are eight planets that orbit the
Sun. They are known as Mercury,
Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn,
Uranus and Neptune.
-The Sun is the centre of solar system.
-All the planets fall in 2 groups:
*Inner planets: Mercury, Venus,
Earth and Mars.
*Outer planets: Jupiter, Saturn,
Uranus and Neptune
(The inner planets are the closest to
the Sun compared to the outer
planets.)
GRAVITATIONAL FIELD STRENGTH IMPORTANCE OF GRAVITY
-Therefore all the planets have -The gravitational field strength of the
gravitational pull. The formula states that Earth keeps the Moon in orbit, whilst
to calculate the weight, mass in kg should the much larger gravitational field
multiply with the gravitational field strength of the Sun keeps the Earth
strength. and all the planets in orbit around it.

strength (g) of 10 Newtons per kilogaram,

strength (g).
-On other planets, the value of (g) will
differ;
Mercury=4N/kg
Venus=9N/kg
Mars=4N/kg
Jupiter=25N/kg
Saturn=11N/kg
Uranus=9N/kg
Neptune=12N/kg
