I. PETER HEALS THE CRIPPLED BEGGAR (1-10)


1. When and why did Peter and John go up to the temple (1)? What changes do you find in
them now compared to their earlier days in Jesus’ ministry (cf. Mk 10:35-41; 14:37-40)?
2. How long had the beggar by the temple gate been crippled (2)? How did this beggar earn a
living? What was his life problem?
3. What did he ask peter and John to do for him (3)?
4. What did Peter say to him (4)? Why? What did the beggar expect from them (5)?
5. Why couldn’t Peter meet the beggar’s expectations (6a)? In what other way did Peter help
the begging man (6b, 7)? What does “in the name of Jesus of Nazareth” mean (cf. Jn 14:14)?
In the way that Peter helped the beggar, what can we learn about the right way to help
fellow brothers?
6. Describe the healing procedure used to cure the crippled beggar (6-8)? How grateful might
he have felt? What was the reaction of the people who saw that this crippled man was now
walking (9, 10)?
