Spc Nature: BIOPSY

Spc Site: RIGHT SCAPULAR REGION

History: Recurrent discharging sinus right scapular region, infected sebaceous cyst.

Gross: Specimen container is labeled with the patient's name and medical record number.
Received in formalin is a single skin covered tissue fragment measuring 1.6 cm x 1.1 cm x 0.9 cm. A
sinus opening is identified. Sectioning shows a sinus tract measuring 0.9 cm x 0.3 cm. The entire
specimen is submitted in blocks (A&B).

Micro: Section shows a cyst filled with laminated keratin and is lined by stratified squamous epithelium with
intact granular layer. The surrounding tissue shows dense lymphoplasmacytic and neutrophilic infiltrate
along with foreign body type giant cell response.

Diagnosis: RIGHT SCAPULAR REGION, BIOPSY:

Ruptured and inflamed epidermal inclusion cyst.
